How do we keep...

Than why did he kill himself?

my point exactly

now maybe he started his massacre with the idea he was going to get away and decided to do himself when his getaway plans went south, but if you barricade yourself in a room like that, you've pretty much precluded getting away

The newest talking point of those that love gun control: Keep guns out of the wrong hands.

How do we keep guns out of the wrong hands? How exactly do you determine this? Since this is about keeping guns out of the wrong hands this requires that we identify the wrong hands before they have a chance to do harm. How is this determined?

Let me address a couple of the expected responses.

1: Keep guns away from the mentally ill: Ok. Agreed. However, it is already illegal for anyone deemed to have a mental illness to own a gun or to sell a gun to. There is also a process in which this is determined. So, this is already being done. What more can be done in this regard? Note: It HAS to be tailored to where it will not infringe on everyone else's Rights. You know, people that are not mentally ill...

2: Keep guns away from those that are criminal: This too is already done. Anyone that has been charged and convicted with a felony that merits at least 1 year in prison is barred from owning any guns. It is also illegal in pretty much every state to possess a gun while under investigation, have a restraining order due to domestic violence, and other situations. Note about this: The majority of crimes committed while in possession of a gun are crimes committed by people with rap sheets. How do you prevent these people from getting a hold of a gun when they are already legally barred from owning or even possessing a gun? UBC's? The federal government can't implement that, States can, but not the Federal Government as they do not have the power to regulate intrastate commerce. Plus people have a Right to Privacy. Add to this the fact that most people that illegally possess guns get those guns via theft or straw purchases (which are illegal already) or the black market...you're going to have your work cut out for you on this one. Even more so when 3D Printing advances enough to where people can print metal objects in their home. Which IS going to happen whether you think it will or not. History of technology shows us this.

Feel free to add to this. The end goal: Keep guns out of the wrong hands. How? What? Where? Why?

I actually agree with you wholeheartedly on this. This is also the reason why the "good guy with a gun" narrative is ****ing nonsense.

Can you expand on your last sentence?

And the guns went into the wrong hands didn't they.

We do our best to keep guns out of the wrong hands. We require background checks when buying guns and the background check determines if the person is prohibited from getting guns. If they are they don't get the guns. But, background checks aren't perfect, we're not perfect, and our systems aren't perfect. There will always be guns that fall into the wrong hands no matter what. There are some things that you just can't do anything about and there will always be stuff that falls into the wrong hands, not just guns but trucks, planes, bombs, you name it. There will be some disasters that just can't be avoided.

20/20 hindsight BS. If you claim someone with no record and who passed multiple background checks-at the TIME he bought the guns-is the "Wrong hands" it means you want a complete ban on guns being sold to people who have clean records and underwent a background check,

his claim is idiotic either way

either he engages in a dishonest claim that Paddock was the wrong hands based on what was learned often years after he bought some of the guns

OR

He doesn't want any private citizen buying guns because Paddock

passed dozens of Background checks-he made no effort to acquire these guns under the radar
had worked for the IRS which meant he had passed additional levels of government scrutiny
had no record or history of any disqualifying feature including mental health or domestic violence that somehow did not get reported.

lets see if jet can explain is claim because he is forced to choose one or the other above

So then we will never keep guns out of the wrong hands.

The sooner you accept that, the sooner you'll be at peace. When Paddock bought his guns, were they the wrong hands at the time of purchase?

Obviously so. I'll accept nothing when it comes when it comes to mass shootings.

You can, but not me.

LOL

Sounds just like the religious fundies, "You can accept evolution, but not me!"

its a stupid throwaway line from a guy who essentially wants to ban all citizens from being able to own guns his leftwing masters won't let him own. The fact is if you want to stop people with clean records, who pass dozens of background checks from buying guns because ONE of those people-many years after he first bought guns and spent months planning his massacre-did something wrong, you are a gun banner pure and simple.

BFD-so you pretend to care while spewing nonsense that has no relation to doing anything beneficial.

No, it sounds like someone who is tired of mass shootings. So do you like mass shootings or are you tired of them?

No, it sounds like someone who cant wrap their minds around reality and goes to their 'safe place' to look for answers.

Just like the unrealistic assumption you make that anyone likes mass shootings.

Their plan to do something about them......is nothing

Being tited of mass shootings doesn't automatically means whatever proposals you want to implement will mitigate mass shootings. BTW, what are your proposals?
