Get Woke, Go Broke: Dick's Sporting Goods sales slump

Tuesday I am going to go eat at Chik-fil-A and then head over to Dick’s to get a new tent for my son’s Boy Scout camping.

More than likely online sales. I used to hit the Dick's SG pretty regular for my sports related stuff. Now, I just go online. That applies to most everything except groceries. I haven't walked into a box shop in well over three years.
 
Dicks completely lost my business the first time they pulled ARs then put them back. Meanwhile, they had no problem capitalizing on the ammo shortage sales.

Dicks can go bankrupt for all I care. There are better sporting goods stores near enough for ths to be nothing more than a minor inconvenience to me.
 
Meh, I’d rather stick with the local family owned locally owned gun shop whenever possible

Or like the one my boys worked in during high school, where you can literally grab a bottle of whisky with your left hand and a rifle with your right without ever moving your feet.

Must depend on where you are. Out here Dick's is pure soccer moms and golf. They don't usually even man the gun section, I have never seen anyone showing or selling a gun in a Dicks. It's mostly a clothing store.

People that actually need good outdoor gear go to real outdoor places like Sportsman's Warehouse. On the weekend it will take a half hour to get to see a gun with 5 people behind the counter. Plus they have real camping equipment, not walmart level crap.

True. Around here, when it comes to guns, camping, fishing gear, etc., it's all about Cabela's. Dick's is more for balls and rackets and, like you said, clothes.
 
The CEO said when they initially made their decision that he knew there would be pushback and it was to be expected.

I guess at the end of the day, irrespective of whether you agree or disagree with his decision, he didn't make the decision lightly, knew there would be a decrease in Sales and he still chose to go ahead.

Principles ahead of profits. That's the choice he made.

Yeah, Cabela's is big out here too, but if you want to get in and out fast with quality stuff Sportsman's Warehouse is much easier.
 
I proposed a term to the urban dictionary and it was published "Red Henning"

They chose politics over profits and their business suffered as a result, "Red Henning" is never a good business choice.

To heck with those soccer moms, they usually don't spend much money anyway since they don't have much money to begin with. As for yuppies, whether or not they like or don't like guns I suppose would vary.
