People talk about how more guns leads to more crime. Well if that were the case police wouldn't carry guns. After all, the very purpose of police officers is to reduce and stop crime, certainly they wouldn't carry guns if guns worked contrary to what they're doing.

More guns leads to more shootings. Not more crime in general.

Legal guns deter crime. Illegal guns should always be taken off the street. AR-15s and clips are necessary for the populace to be properly armed but you should sure need a permit to carry these and even then clips and Ar-15s should require special permit. There should be a no buy list and a buy list with children in school given gun safety (with dummy guns mostly) and mental health course and certified license to buy firearm. Citizens could be put on the no buy list for making threatening statements or undergoing mental health counseling. Notice this is no buy restriction. No one is trying to take anyone's gun away except as already present in the law.

How would one either remove themselves or protest being placed on it

How many years did civilians own AR-15s before the first one was used by a civilian in a mass shooting?

Probably the Neanderthals couldn't figure it out and you'd get something kooky.

Easy, think about it, I say something stupid to my neighbor and she goes to the police and they appear at my door and inform me of my first warning and then eventually I have to go to court anyway.

The courts would control the list.

You just have to file a motion and have a hearing and the court would file according to the results of your hearing at the National level.

Your County Courthouse can put you on the list, take you off or file a motion if your name was put there by some Federal Authority.

Gun purchase license can be a tag on you drivers license.

I like it

True. When people own guns they're most likely going to shoot them, at ranges and whatnot.

Legal guns deter crime.
Agreed.
Illegal guns should always be taken off the street.
I agree with that as well.

I think what you mean are magazines not clips. If you want to sound knowledgeable you've got to know what you're talking about. There is a difference between magazines and clips and its magazines that are usually what the debate is over.
Anyway, an AR-15 functions just the same as common hunting rifles. You pull the trigger and it goes bang once. Why should those require special regulation that involves permits?

I agree with teaching gun safety at schools but as for a mental health course and certified license to buy firearms, people who are deemed mentally ill are already prohibited from buying firearms and would not be able to pass a background check. As for being put on a no buy list, nobody should be put on such a list without going through due process first.

Then go live there

They have yet to build their condominium which is a project they are working on but when they do, as a high level member I just might get a condo there. But as of right now they don't yet have it set up for 24/7 living.

How nice for you

Whatever. Anyway, the point of this thread is about how people like you like to claim that more guns leads to more crime. It makes sense that if guns caused crime than police wouldn't carry them. After all, stopping crime not causing it is what being a police officer is all about. Surely police officers wouldn't carry tools that work contrary to their job. It would be like a firefighter spraying gasoline instead of water on a fire.

You're right, I would say more illegal guns leads to more crime in general but more legal guns leads to less crime.

and the left wing bannerrhoid "solutions" cut down in the number of legal guns, not illegal ones.

which is their goal all along

I just keep asking for this large city or country that has lax gun laws and low gun deaths. I never get an answer. LOL

The gun nuts hate that one.

Why does it have to be a large city or country?

Because that is where you will have the most statistical evidence. The larger the N the more validity. Basic statistics. I will accept a state as well

If you want an example of a state that has relatively lax gun laws and low gun deaths, Rhode Island, that's if you just take into account gun deaths. But I believe in not just looking at gun deaths but at homicide rates in general which aren't of course always done with guns.

They have a 7 day waiting period. Along with the necessary waiting period, a prospective purchaser of a handgun must also complete a handgun instruction and safety course. This requirement may be met by completing one of the following:

Completion of the state-issued hunter safety course.

Completion of the pistol safety course administered by the Department of Environmental Management, as well as the administered test.

Passing the DEM handgun safety test.
