Hogg is no King. He's just playing on emotion of an event, and used that to get into the spotlight. That emotion decays. He hasn't "spread the message" anymore than it had already been spread or is going to spread. He's not creating the content or changing minds. He's just repeating a mantra that already existed and riding the wave of emotionalism that follows these events. He's already been forgotten by most people.
King was a highly educated, great orator from out of the Protestant Black Church, who used [effectively] both persuasive (appeal to emotions) and logical (appeal to reason) arguments. Whatever the virtues of David Hogg, and he may be sincerely moved (I'm sure he's been affected by what happened at his school and to his classmates) to advocate on the national stage for the things he's championing, but he and King are two very different people as you pointed out.
Not that one has to be an Reverend King today. In fact, I think that 1960s marching is today akin to military soldiers today standing on line in front of gun and canon fire like Civil War soldiers. It's an outdated methodology which most youthful people feel is "fun time." Whether a white Northern Freedom Rider on bus or a Southern black teenager marching on foot in Jim Crow Alabama, you faced real threat of violence from white mobs and armed white cops with police dogs. There was a risk to what you did then in the 1960s. And this virtue signalling marching today moves me not an iota. Too many are trying to live the "lives" of the 1960s marchers.
The nationally known white Catholic Priest of Chicago with his larger Black-American [former Protestant Black Church] parish, is always on some 1960s style, Black Church sounding, rebellion and protest.
So, what real effect and affect has David Hogg and that Chicago Priest and Jesse Jackson had on the Democrats of Chicago sooooooo "tired" of Democrat on Democrat violence in Chicago? They blame Indiana--and then stop traffic on a highway to demand non-Chicagoans stop black Chicagoans from killing each other, stop Democrats from killing other Obama loving Democrats, because they are utterly on the high horses incapable of doing it themselves.
So, while I don't use the term "shine" and other terms like that that Black-American "Hoteps" are fond of using, I agree with sensible Uncle Hotep that its less the gun laws and more the character of the people of Chicago (at least some of the Black-Americans there) why Chicagoans are steadily getting murdered via guns.
Wisconsin has taken in a lot of refugees from Chicago over the years. Chicagoans fleeing looking more desparate than Mexicans. LOL. I'm about to petition President Trump to build a wall around Chicago.
Naw, I have family in Chicago, so, I can't bash on Chitown too tough. LOL.
