It is political because of the NRA lobbying congress every year...

It is also political because gun ownership is in the Constitution...

He didn't accidentally fire the gun through the window. He intended to kill whoever was on the other side.

I am writing this from my history class... and the 2nd Amendment requires all gun owners to be part of the militia. Later documents define who else can also be part of the militia.

It is illegal for anyone that has dementia from owning a gun per federal law. A law which the NRA and thousands of its supporters supports. Maybe in your race to make this about the NRA you should have actually learned a few FACTS.

No, actually it doesn't. If that's what you learned in your history class then you need to be going to a different school or your history teacher needs to be fired asap or you need to be paying better attention.

You need to correct your teacher or textbook writer. The power to organize, arm and discipline the militia is enumerated in Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution. The Second Amendment is a restriction on the power of the federal government. Please feel free to diagram the sentence that makes up the 2A to show us where the requirement to be in the militia is. There has never been a requirement to be in the militia to own a gun, nor has owning a gun automatically placed you in the militia.
