Another Nut with a Gun [W:578]

No, I can't. UBCs are unenforceable. They don't stop crime - they create it. I should not have to get the government's permission, and pay for the privilege, to transfer a gun to a friend, especially those that own guns already, have CCW or are cops. In Colorado, cops have to pass background checks to be issued their service weapons or buy guns for their own use.

My original point was the same, UBC are unenforceable, until someone pointed out the liability issue. Now, I'm not so sure. They can't be enforced by the government looking over the shoulder of people selling guns, and that's for sure. If someone has already bought a gun, especially if they have a CCW, then they've already had a background check and should be good to go.

Agreed. One background check should be enough. Give the person who passed a license or an ID of some sort that exempts him from further checks.

I wouldn't sell to a stranger, either, without some assurance that he/she didn't intend to stick up the nearest convenience store, but that's just me.

better yet.. simply stamp "prohibited from firearms".. on a prohibited persons license. Done deal.

Instead of everyone who IS NOT prohibited from getting a firearm having to be checked. You simply directly prohibit those people that are ineligible to purchase a firearm.

But you won't see such things.. and why not? Because the point of background checks is not to stop criminals from getting firearms.. its to restrict and reduce legal firearms purchases.

Of course. Why would anyone want to restrict criminals from getting guns? Instead, let's have a nefarious plot to keep them out of the hands of law abiding citizens.

That is just nuts.

Most people I know, if it's between friends, or family, just ignore it.

That's exactly what Soros and all the anti-gun groups are about. David Hogg, serves as their current mouth piece.

If that's the goal, it won't work.
