If guns, and the easy availability of guns are the reason for school shootings than tell me this, why weren't there school shootings 50 or 60 years ago like they are today? Back 50 or 60 years ago guns were easier to legally get than they are now.

Answer: Changing social mores. The country has recently shown a decline in its fabric. And violence is but a symptom.

Just keep in mind that nations rise and fall. The US is no exception.

Maybe because your society is more violent today than it was then.

Where schools are banned, there is no school violence. The solution is clear.

People are the reason for school shootings. Just like they are for the opiod crisis, traffic accidents, suicides, etc. The tool is an inanimate object and cannot be the cause of anything without the input of humans.
I find it incredulous that people want to blame guns for an occurrence, but not those pressure cookers, Mercedes trucks, suicide vests, or pipe bombs.

Thanks in part to violent video games, violent movies, porn, a permissive society where 'lil Johnny never gets his butt whipped and it's Trumps fault or the fault of the police, or your neighbor, or the school, conservatives and so on. Parents who are weak, "progressive" and don't have brain one, are a big part of the problem. Adam Lanza's mother had a screw loose and she is the best example of what I am talking about.

Yes sir. People get all full of themselves and one day, there will be no United States.

I would say its the way the media today handles stories of people who commit mass murder with firearms. I wasn't around 50 or 60 years ago but I am sure the media didn't talk about people who commit mass murder with firearms for weeks and weeks at a time in order to push for anti-2nd amendment laws. Perhaps some of our older DP members can confirm this.

Didn't we have racists lynching black people, hippies causing terrorist attacks, people being assassinated and other violent **** going on back then?

Nope, that's not it.

I’m more concerned about the increase between 2014 and 2016.There had been a steady decline. What changed between2014 and 2016. Could it be that more states allow open carry of firearms?

That increase, if I'm correct, is limited to inner cities, and, from what I understand, concerns gang-related activity. That's certainly not good, but doesn't correlate with increased open carry as far as I know. In fact, I'm not sure very many cases involved open carry at all.

Here’s just one example of the increase:

Too many people shot during road rage in my honest opinion.

From the following:

The Trace’s analysis found that incidents categorized as road rage — broadly, where someone in a car brandished a gun in a threatening manner or fired a gun at another driver or passenger — have more than doubled in the last three years, from 247 in 2014 to 620 in 2016.

All told, there were at least 1,319 road rage episodes involving firearms over that span. Nationwide, at least 354 people were wounded and 136 people were killed.

I don't think there were any states that started to allow open carry between 2014 and 2016 that didn't already allow it.

So all we need is a time machine? LOL

Name a country that has solved this problem without gun control. The answer is obvious

If you can find or build one, good for you. But the fact remains that school shootings weren't a problem back then like they are now.

What country has fixed this problem currently by reverting to the 1950's America whatever that means. LOL

You can't compare the USA with other countries, its apples and oranges.
