If Guns Are The Reason For School Shootings

You can't compare the USA with other countries, its apples and oranges.

We do it for many things. If they find a medicine that helps treat cancers in Canadian people we don't say that can not work here. The same for gun laws. If it was one country you might have a case. But a dozen countries all of different cultures all with low gun deaths....only a fool ignores those results

How well a medicine works is not affected by the general attitudes of the people. Its also not affected by the overall population of the country and by the population density of the country. Gun laws and gun deaths are.

Gun laws work. That is a stone cold fact. Your plans work nowhere

Well yes some of them. The law that says you have to go through a background check to purchase from an FFL dealer works quite well. Laws that severely punish people for illegally owning guns work well too.

Nope. Our gun death rates remain way too high

I don't think there were any states that started to allow open carry between 2014 and 2016 that didn't already allow it.

Actually I know of two. Both Arkansas and Delaware passed laws in 2015 that allowed open carry.

I will have have to do more research to find out if any other states or 2015 passed open carry laws.

I've never known anybody who was murdered with a gun, do you?

My husband’s cousin was robbed and murdered by two teens with a banned Assault style weapon in the early 1980s. The robbers tied his hands behind his back and shot him in the head execution style.
The police found that my husband’s cousin had his concealed hand gun ( for which he had concealed weapons permit ) still tucked in his waistband in small of his back, when they found his body.

Do you know if such laws had any affect on gun crime in those states when they were passed?

If guns, and the easy availability of guns are the reason for school shootings than tell me this, why weren't there school shootings 50 or 60 years ago like they are today? Back 50 or 60 years ago guns were easier to legally get than they are now.
Not only that but they even brought guns to school to target practice.

You're saying the weapon used was banned. That just goes to show that banning the weapon wouldn't've made a difference as the weapon already was banned.

Disaster will sometimes happen even when the best preparations are made, although I don't know how much training your husband's cousin had.

You mean like the 1994 gun free school act? Seems rather strange that school shootings have become more of a problem since passing that legislation......

Oh we can do much better than that

I agree, for starters addressing the actual issue rather than the tool used to commit the crime would greatly help.

What is the actual issue and where has that plan worked?

I was at the trial. The judge gave the two murders life in prison with no parole and made sure the murderers and those of us at the trial understood the reason he sentenced them to no parole was because the weapons they used in the robbery and murder were currently ( at the time ) banned Assualt Weapons.

I know he had weapons training before he got the permit, but I cannot say how many hours of training he had.

That's stupid. In the 80s AR-15s and the like were perfectly legal, and someone executed could have been executed with any firearm.

a murderer NOT getting LWOP would be news in a non-death penalty state

You said this was in the early 80s. I am not aware of any assault style weapons that were banned then. I do know during the Clinton administration there was an assault weapon ban but that was in effect from 1994 to 2004.

Sone states that issue CCWs do require some training but usually its marginal at best.
