So, Did the shooter in Santa Fe, Texas use a shotgun?

I disagree but I was asking her a question--if the people feel a need to ban guns will she be part of it?

And mark my word if the vast majority of Americans feel schools cannot be made safer from the school shooters who wish to target our children while in class , then they will come after your guns.

Your argument will not protect your gun rights.

People need hope that we can be safer.

One of the biggest problems with my generation and I imagine it will be worse with the next one I am a millennial is that they don't like responsibility.

Have you ever wondered why victim narratives are so incredibly popular people are literally making up things to be victims of.

I thank my parents everyday for the things they did for me when I was a kid.

Now in the professional world I can work circles around these clowns everywhere I've worked I'm the youngest person there and I've been there the longest.

It's sad where our culture has gone

Some of these millennials who worked for me have parents who buy every victim story their kids sell them, no matter how ridiculous.

It warps these youths brains over time, in a very bad way.






EDIT: My MicroSoft daughter and my Army Officer son have both thanked me for how they were raised because they are way better than most of their peers and they say that I had something to do with that. My Two Majors Three minors University of Washington grad on my wifes GI Bill daughter who is three years out of school and a nanny trying to figure out what she wants to do when she grows up has not.

I had Parents they actually didn't know how to deal with me and instead of just giving up like so many of them do now they actually took me to a therapist.

I want the gun laws we have enforced . I want a better nationwide data base with shared info to keep a list of criminals/mentally ill who lost rights due to their mental illness on the list and red flags investigated throughly.

I also want schools harden to prevent those intent on killing/wounding students while attending school from gaining access to school building with firearms.
 
I just read that metal detectors are one of the 100 safety recommendations for Parkland schools. Here are some of the others from the article:

Among the other recommendations:

-- The district should install window coverings on doors to conceal kids in schools.

-- The height of outdoor fences should be increased.

-- More mental health counselors, psychologist and social workers are needed who can focus on students well-being instead of on testing. Better marketing of mental health services is also recommended.

-- The county needs to find a better way to pay for school resource officers. Right now, the school district pays $46,000, and cities or the Broward Sheriff’s Office pays the remaining costs, which some cities say is $100,000 or more. Cities decide how many officers to pay for, which has left 35 schools without any police officers. The report recommends the school district increase its share and also recommends finding dedicated funding so disparities won’t exist between cities.

-- School safety plans should be updated by schools in the first month of classes. The plans should be delivered to municipal law enforcement who should acknowledge the review.

-- All classroom doors must remain locked at all times (the current doors only lock from the hallway, not from inside of classroom).

-- Within the first two weeks of school, schools should practice a lockdown drill with school resource officer participation, in addition to fire and tornado drills, and a Code Red (critical incident) drill every semester.

-- All staff and students should wear ID badges, something that is already district policy but irregularly enforced.

-- School administrators need to do ensure they are enforcing discipline rules appropriately. “While there is certainly a defined process for discipline, it was reported that some individual participants in [Broward schools] may have a real or perceived incentive to underreport or not impose consequences. The task force was unanimous that such incentives need to be eliminated and audits need to be performed to make sure the discipline process is being followed with fidelity.” Questions have arisen about whether the shooter at Stoneman Douglas was appropriately disciplined for various infractions. The district has already announced plans to start reviewing discipline enforcement as part of regular school audits.

-- The district’s PROMISE program should be reviewed to better track repeat offenders. The program, which stands for Preventing Recidivism Through Opportunities, Mentoring, Intervention, Support and Education, was created in 2013 to provide alternatives to arrests. The district has claimed a nearly 90 percent success rate, but the South Florida Sun Sentinel discovered that students are not considered repeat offenders unless they commit the exact same offense in the exact same year.

-- Student information should be shared between the district’s PROMISE program and the Broward Sheriff Office’s Civil Citation program. Offenses committed at school and in the community are generally considered separate so neither agency has the student’s full history. The school district has agreed to discuss sharing information at a June 19 meeting.

-- School staff must supervise all open entrances during school starting and closing times.

-- All classrooms should have an intercom button and landline phone to alert school/office of critical incidents in the building. If they do not have these, they should have a radio/walkie-talkie to communicate with school/office. Many portable classrooms have no intercom systems.

-- After school, sports or summer activities must have a security plan in place, with safety responsibilities assigned to a specific trained staff member.

Along with other safety measures it seems to help at airports, federal court buildings, large sporting events, Disney Parks , etc.

that's so stupid it has anyone who understands guns Laughing their asses off. But then again its par for the course from a guy who claimed magazines that hold more than 10 rounds "are for warfare only" or that an AR 15 is a "weapon of war" (but an MI Carbine is not) and thus "needs to be banned until we get a handle on mass shootings"

China has the death penalty for 55 crimes, such as drug trafficking, stealing a car, embezzlement. The time between sentencing and execution, which is either by firing squad or lethal injection is about 2 months. Maybe we need stricter penalties and enforcement. Citizens aren't allowed to have guns, although they do commit crimes with knives. Of course under their laws, probably we would lose a lot of our population, but we would be safer.

safer? not from the government. sheep living in pens are safe from wolves. if they were free ranging some would be killed by wolves-but not all. the ones that live in pens-well all of them can be killed by the farmer
