Yeah, such shotguns fire slugs. You're being obtuse dude.

What does the fact that shotguns can fire slugs have anything to do with shotguns being rifles?

It doesn't: Jet was wrong on yet another gun issue

Yeah; a shotgun IS a rifle; it uses a different load.

Nope, a rifle has rifling in the barrel, hence why its called a rifle. A shotgun on the other hand has a smooth bore.

Yes, I know: it looks like a rifle, aims like a rifle, hence the comparison.

It might have the same basic shape as a rifle but it doesn't aim like a rifle. How you use a shotgun is quite different from how you use a rifle.

You weren't comparing. You said that a shotgun IS a rifle, not IS LIKE a rifle.

another complete bit of nonsense. If you are shooting a rifle with iron sights-you place the majority of your focus on the front sight. If you are shooting a shotgun (most of the time at a flying or running target) you look at the target, rather than the barrel of the shotgun. Being a former All-American Skeet shooter that is how I was taught and how I teach. Now if you have a slug gun then yes you would aim a shotgun like a rifle. But that is not how shotguns are normally used

Yep-the focus is completely different.

Nope, they are both long guns but they differ in use. I suppose that a pistol and revolver are "equals" if you simply go by being able to be gripped with one hand.

You guys have to dig all the way back to May??

what is sad is watching your constant error filled arguments and absolute nonsense about firearms-firearms you don't understand. And then you have the gall to say you know more about this issue and that your "spread the misery" BS is sound. We all get the fact that you are not trusted to carry a concealed weapon nor own normal capacity magazines. What we don't understand is why you think that makes you qualified to tell the rest of us that we cannot own or carry stuff.

Well, I wasn't the one who resurrected the thread. But, when someone says something so monumentally stupid, expect someone to use it in their sig line and people on occasion come to see if someone can actually be that stupid.

EDIT: Your last post defending the idea that shotguns are rifles before the the thread was ressurected was back in September, not May.

When jet was talking about digging back to May,I thought he meant the OP which is May. And went WTF is he off on now? OK I went back a few pages and realized he is still confused on what a shotgun is compared to a rifle. Maybe he heard the term 'rifled slug' and assumed?

So in an effort to give him the benefit of the doubt, I thought that maybe he was saying that he made the comment in May and I stepped in a few months later. Here's his original comment.

A shotgun is a rifle; so's an AR15.

And here's my response on the very next page a few days after his comment.

So much wrong in such a short sentence. No. A shotgun is not a rifle unless it has rifling. Even then it's still considered a shotgun as pistols also have rifling but they are in a different catagory.

Seems to me Jet57 can't be trusted as an eyewitness in court as he may be suffering from memory loss.

He just claimed the 1993 Brady bill was signed into law By Reagan

Dude, you were still defending your stupid comment back in September not 2 pages back.

Yeah, such shotguns fire slugs. You're being obtuse dude.

Also, I wasn't the one who ressurected the thread. The best thing you can do now is own up to your stupid comment. You got caught and there ain't no turning back aside from owning your mistake.

Well you are wrong. Rifles and shotguns are very different. First is the shot gun shoots out shot, which is small projectiles that are kept in a shell and they spread when fired, they also have short lethal range. Shotguns are not long range accurate. They don't have similar powder loads, they aren't anything alike.
