Near the end of third period, my teacher got a call from the office saying I need to go down and see a Mr. Greenleaf. I didn’t know Mr. Greenleaf, but it turned out that he was an armed school resource officer. I went down and found him, and he escorted me to his office. Then a second security officer walked in and sat behind me. Both began questioning me intensely. First, they began berating my tweet, although neither of them had read it; then they began aggressively asking questions about who I went to the range with, whose gun we used, about my father, etc. They were incredibly condescending and rude.
Then a third officer from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office walked in, and began asking me the same questions again. At that point, I asked whether I could record the interview. They said no. I asked if I had done anything wrong. Again, they answered no. I asked why I was there. One said, “Don’t get snappy with me, do you not remember what happened here a few months ago?

If this happened to my son, we'd go back to the range as often as we could.

The article explains that some students were upset with his tweets (which weren't anything terrible). If I were the principal I would have told them that the student has broken no school rules and explained while they have the right to be upset, the other student has the right to go to a gun range with his father. It's stupid that this school did this.

It's stupid but not unexpected. They failed miserably to act before that Cruz kid shot the school up, so now they've gone full over the top to show they learned a lesson. I hope his dad get's a lawyer.

Its difficult to form a true opinion unless we know the entire story. We have heard from the student, but until we also hear from the authorities as to why, we can only guess. Guessing gets us nowhere.

Not surprising there was a delay for the third officer to enter the room.

This stuff comes from people who believe that the mere possession (or even desire to possess) a firearm makes civilians dangerous. It comes from the point of view that all gun owners are depraved maniacs who seek only to wreak havoc on the community. There are LOTS of people out there with that mindset. From there we have the occasional nut that does something crazy. That action just just reinforces the fears that the others have and we get in school interrogations rather than discussions with an intent to understand what's going on.

The most disturbing part of this story is the claim of accusation and intimidation. An innocent kid isn't going to respond well to it and a deranged kid is likely to see the tactic as a further step to alienate him. The process needs to include understanding the kids, not intimidating them.

They called him the pro second amendment kid, I would've taken that as a compliment.
