Toddler Shoots Pregnant Mother

I heard about this, and this family should of been more smart with their guns. However, some people being irresponsible with guns, is not a sufficient argument to ban them.

One key place many people get safety information from is their doctor's office. Pediatricians, for example, will go over safety issues in the home of new parents- on everything from the dangers of the bleach under the kitchen sink to how to secure the electrical outlets in the house so curious little fingers and small little toys don't get in there. But when it comes to guns, perhaps one of the most dangerous items you can have around the house, the NRA lobbied to place gag orders on physicians so they couldn't talk about them. It is too sacrosanct, apparently. And it might spook customers to realize these are dangerous things to have around the house. Might hurt sales. So what's an occasional mom accidentally shot in the face by her toddler? Not worth a dip in the sales.

"a physician gag law is a law that prohibits physicians from asking their patients about whether the patient owns a gun" A doctor could certainly pass on firearm safety rules without asking if the patient owned a gun.

Nope. Because most of these laws prohibit the physician from even talking about guns. Read the Wiki reference I gave.

We got gag laws because... freedom, right?

it would be sound public policy to effect appropriate restrictions to prevent such idiots from legally bearing arms

what did i win?

Until we get some Minority Report type tech that allows us to see into the future I just don't see how that's possible.

I get it. You would sacrifice the good for the perfect

Was this really the point you wanted to get across?

If it was, you're dumber than most thought. If it wasn't and this was some poor attempt at a joke, then ok.

I've seen multiple posts of yours where you flip flop back and forth on the 2nd amendment and whether it should be changed or not. You've argued people should be allowed to have guns but in this case, the guy legally owned it and didn't store it properly and is being held accountable. What more are you looking for here?

Gun rubber snowflakes might melt if asked the question

he's on record in favor of banning private citizens from owning ANY type of handgun.
