I heard about this, and this family should of been more smart with their guns. However, some people being irresponsible with guns, is not a sufficient argument to ban them.
One key place many people get safety information from is their doctor's office. Pediatricians, for example, will go over safety issues in the home of new parents- on everything from the dangers of the bleach under the kitchen sink to how to secure the electrical outlets in the house so curious little fingers and small little toys don't get in there. But when it comes to guns, perhaps one of the most dangerous items you can have around the house, the NRA lobbied to place gag orders on physicians so they couldn't talk about them. It is too sacrosanct, apparently. And it might spook customers to realize these are dangerous things to have around the house. Might hurt sales. So what's an occasional mom accidentally shot in the face by her toddler? Not worth a dip in the sales.
