Shooting Outside my Hotel

So, I'm on the phone, talking to my wife. Suddenly, I hear "Pop pop pop pop..." maybe ten of them. Then a few more "pops" after a little gap, 2-3 seconds maybe.

I tell my wife, "I think I just heard gunshots."
She's like, "No way. It must have been fireworks."
I reply, "Nuh-uh. Those were gun shots."

A few minutes later the sirens begin. Conclusion: definitely gun shots. So, I go outside and see bunches of flashing red and blue lights, at least a dozen cops and several emergency vehicles are across the street. So, I fly down the stairs and head over to the scene. I find out that two people were shot. Something to do with a cab. It's all vague.

Here's the latest on the story.

PD: 2 people shot at CVS parking lot in east Phoenix - Arizona's Family

Oh...the gun control part---this makes one more of many gun incidents happening in my vicinity or to my friends. I am sick of it. Ban guns. Take them and melt them down. And, lock up anyone ever caught running around with one.

How misguided to think the above would magically make criminal violence simply vanish.

I suspect even you do not believe what you just wrote, and are simply venting.

Dude, your posts are really nothing other than the repeated parroting of gun zealot dogma. You really shouldn't talk about other posters.

They must make their attacks on you personal because they have no argument. You are shining as light on things they want to remain unseen

Well, that group's imbalanced psyche is certainly part of the problem. That much of your whiny post is true.

you're the one whining-demanding to ban all guns when you haven't a clue who caused it or how they got the gun

Yes. It's time to start banning guns.

Yes. It's time to start banning guns.

As we have said-come and get them. Don't hide behind armed men doing your dirty work.

Back when we were teenyboppers my friend and I made a "bang stick" style gun out of a length of pipe and a couple of pieces of plumbing hardware. You could shoot 12 gauge shotgun shells out of it. Later on my friend managed to attach it to an old wooden rifle stock and he fashioned a trigger for it.
We practiced out in his back yard until one day the neighbors got pissed off about it.
He had gotten too serious about it and the Montgomery County cops decided it was time to confiscate his now quite functional "bang stick".
In a strange way, one of them was actually pretty impressed. I could tell.
But there was no way they were going to let him keep it.

That is the simplest way, but without the aforementioned trigger, ya cant really aim it. Nowadays the kid would be carted off to jail.

That is about a mile SW of where I live. I've been to that CVS many times...damn.

BTW, the hamburger joint in that hotel really sucks.

Exactly. In Pakistan they've got workshops where they make copies of big brand guns. This guy who ran a shop had been doing it for thirty plus years.

In central and south America, they bust underground manufactures cranking out large volumes of crude but functioning submachine guns.th.jpg

A weapon which makes killing infinitely easier and more reliable. Yes, Virginia. The guns are a problem. Foolish is pretending that they are not.

The gun jumped into the fray because the knife was on vacation?

No, the gun was not the problem. It is a tool that was used by the problem.

Guns have been around a LOT longer than the NRA. In fact there are less people owning guns now a days than there were just a few short decades ago.

U.S. Gun Ownership Declines

*mic drop*

Less people who own them but those "less people" own more guns.
There are 320 million guns in private hands. Even if you try to go conservative on a number like that, drastically so, how far off can that estimate really be? 200 million? 150 million? 100 million? A hundred million guns is STILL way too many guns to be able to consfiscate, which is why other liberals should put away their notion of banning and/or confiscating guns, because the economics of doing so would almost equal the current total military budget over a period of five or ten years.
In other words, it is fiscally impossible, and it would also be about as successful as the "war on drugs", with similar results.
Gun manufacturing would simply go underground, just like alcohol did during Prohibition.
So, no matter how much you might hate guns, they are definitely here to stay in the USA. We are going to have to learn to live with that fact.

And people on all sides of this issue CAN do that, IF WE TRY really hard to soften up the vitriol and the anger, and sit down across the table and engage, and if we all are willing to accept some measure of compromise, with the assurance that there will be no "slippery slope" action.
And the slippery slope people (I'm looking at you, Dianne Feinstein et al) need to wake up and realize that NOTHING will end gun violence completely in this country. But if we all accept that we CAN arrive at a reasonable goal, then we did our jobs well.
A reasonable goal might be a ten percent reduction in overall gun violence in a year, and a 30 percent reduction per year in mass shootings.
If we can keep a trajectory like that going for a few years, we should all be able to shake hands and congratulate each other, gun owners and gun haters alike.

What could POSSIBLY have predicated this shooting???

Depends on the level of quality and reliability, most zip guns are more dangerous to the shooter, than the shootee.

A number 4 nail gun blank, can push a 30 grain .22 projectile thru a pressure treated 2X4 AND a thick novel at point blank range. Down a 2 inch smoothbore, overbore no less

Did you actually read my post? It wasn't a zip gun and it wasn't made out of a car antenna.
My buddy machine the pipe stock, it was basically a shotgun for all practical purposes once he was finished with his "magnum opus" and it worked pretty well. Like I said, one of the Montg County cops was actually quite impressed. He was still going to take it but he asked all kinds of questions about how it was made, whether it shot reliably, you name it and he asked about it.

I know what zip guns are.

After the arrests of the two perpetrators it appears there is a possibility of gang involvement and drugs.

I' m shocked, personally.

Approx 120 MILLION legal gun owners-law abiding citizens that represent no threat to the community. A comparative handful of criminals and gang bangers that makeup the vast majority of the 9,000 gun deaths in the country. So of course to the leftist...the response is, target the 120 million law abiding citizens.

stupid reaction-turn millions into criminals. more frantic trolling it appears

hysterical nonsense. you should go around trying to melt down our guns.

Some would argue that guns are turning millions into criminals because people are now resolving minor differences with guns instead of fists...or the courts.

I know....and all those traffic laws target law abiding drivers!

I could. And I can predict many many more. I guarantee it
I didnt say predict, I said predicated. But I guarantee...with the people involved...your prediction is correct. And people like you will enable them.

No one is attacking his friends, they, like his stance and his story aren't real. You are giving way too much weight to his fiction.

Sorry but you don't have a crystal ball, and the above is no different than an Alex Jones "false flag" story, which puts you in a fairly unsustainable and indefensible position. I daresay every bit as much as Calamity's position, which makes both of you bookkends on some fairly unreasonable and irrational crap.

Parkland survivors got a note a couple of days after the shooting at their school:
"The only reason you're famous is because a bunch of your friends are dead."

Now, I like to believe that you are at least somewhat reasonable. Do you really want to be in that cast of characters>

Does a woman's clothes turn a rapist into a rapist?

Because simply locking up all the firearms offenders rather than the law abiding firearms owners would somehow be racist or target minorities?

thats because gun banners are almost always left wingers and this is an attack on conservative voters. Criminals don't bother most left wingers-indeed, violent criminals, when they can vote, almost always vote DEMOCRAT

Traffic laws establish societal boundaries and impose penalties for those that fail to follow them. Sort of like drug laws and murder laws.

but you liberals claim the percentage of people who own guns is declining-yet did we have the number of shootings per capita back when far more homes had guns? anyway you cut the numbers it hurts the cause of the banners
