Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243, 2001]

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

So - prove that the AR15 was NOT originally designed for the army as a heavy combat weapon.

I proved it was many many times here....

Your original claim, for your reading pleasure.

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

And what claim would that be?

This one? https://www.theatlantic.com/notes/2017/11/on-the-military-and-civilian-history-of-the-ar-15/545660/

Spend some time reading, then comment.

You seem to think that "originally designed as a combat weapon" has any legal support to restrict it. The M1 Carbine and M1911 pistol you claim to own possess that trait, as do most modern bolt action hunting rifles. That trait as an enabler for restriction doesn't appear in the Constitution, Cruikshank, Miller, Heller, McDonald, or Caetano. It doesn't even appear in Kolbe v Hogan or Shew v Malloy.

Good point but you forgot the "heavy combat" qualifier.

M1 carbines, M1 Garands, M1911s, M1911A1s, Mauser 98s, Springfields and all the rest were obviously designed for something more akin to paintball or SuperSoaker fights.

its a term dishonest gun banning movements use to try to demonize something in the minds of low wattage sheeple

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

gun banners make up terms they think will inflame the masses into supporting bans.

Propoganda techniques are dear to their hearts..

It seems to have worked here.

I remember when handguns were #1 on the chopping block of the gun banning movement. Handguns as a class were originally designed to shoot people. They're still the overwhelming choice for that purpose for good or bad. The anti-gunners problem is that a great many of the people they look to for support and who would kinda sorta be opposed to guns in general still take some comfort from the handgun they keep in their nightstand.

Define heavy combat weapon.

something Jet cannot own in California and thus doesn't want you to be able to own it either?

Yeah they should be regulated more

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

Well to be fair, we don't know if he means the combat is heavy or weapon is heavy. Neither way seems to be very important though.

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

Yeah they should be regulated more

They (handguns) are generally regulated more than rifles and shotguns.

maybe its like a 'heavy day' sanitary napkin? who knows since his terms are both silly and designed to further a dishonest argument

And not regulated NEAR enough yet

A National database is needed. Numbers of weapons and accessories, background check, licensing, etc, should all be part of the database.

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

The federal government has the power to restrict guns under the commerce clause. This is now settled law

Show me where that is in the Constitution.

Exactly. The gun psychos will fight it though

"accessories"? Like slings, scopes, foregrips, etc.?

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

Or the State or Local level. Limitations can be instituted at any level, for public safety, and still be constitutional.

Where is the power for the federal government to make any law regarding the first ten Amendments?

The suspicion is that they never will be in the considerations of the radicals. Thus the opposition.

Commerce clause

Re: Why do you "need" an AR 15? [W243]

My point to you would be if you dont want to make yourself look stupid...again...you should probably read and know what you are commenting on before you jump into someone elses conversation.

"If you try to bring an assault weapon on your hunting trip, it probably won't be allowed."
