Why arming teachers doesn't work

You guys are 100% right and I apologize.

The NRA is more analogous to North Korean citizens. You all take the second amendment as gospel, assuming a document written in the 1700's is relevant today. Let's forgot for a second you are taking an extremist view of this amendment.

You guys support this dogmatic view, despite the fact people are dying on a daily basis, nearly 100 people a day. You view the second amendment as some sort of biblical prophecy, forgetting the fact that the second amendment is not the entire U.S constitution.

The NRA members are lemmings in society. North Korean citizens are forced to believe in propaganda, what is your excuse? You willfully allow yourself to be brainwashed by the NRA. For shame.

What Goshin and Fled said. I'd add to what they said if it was possible. But quite frankly they hit the nail on the head.

I honestly did not believe anyone could outdo me when it came to anti-NRA hyperbole. Damn. Just damn.

Gotta step up your game, calamity.

What silliness.

I was shooting guns and concerned about maintaining the RKBA before I'd ever heard of the NRA, let alone joined.

Your views of the NRA are hysterical.
Not to mention his views of the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the second anyone says that it is no longer relevant to today is the second you know that they are full of it and are an enemy to Freedom and what this Nation was founded upon.

To think someone that is trained in shooting targets, animals will be just as accurate in a life/death situation against an armed maniac with a bump stock ar15? That teacher has less than an 18% chance.

Depends on the teacher. Some are quite good marksmen, and cool under pressure. Others not so much.

I don't think anyone is advocating arming every teacher. Just those that desire to be armed, and then only concealed.

You should wipe off and disinfect those statistics before posting them.

The fundamental problem with this point is that people like you and gun zealots do not actually believe this. It is a lie.

I have proposed anyone buying a gun pass a clinical/psychological evaluation. When you do not support such a common-sense proposal, this shows gun zealots do not actually care about preventing bad people with bad intentions obtaining guns.

The problem isn't bad people with bad intentions. It is how these bad people with bad intentions are getting these guns so easily.

The problem with your mandatory mental health exam is that no one has come up with a reliable way of identifying mass murderers. At best we may at some point be able to narrow the group to 10% of the population. Assuming 1 mass shooting monthly, which is high, the suspect group is maybe one out of a million.

The problem is bad people with bad intentions. Less than half the high body count mass murders have guns involved. So it's bad people with airplanes, matches, pressure cookers, automobiles. All are easier to get than guns.

As you can see from studies, how can any rational person think that teachers, even trained teachers, can be able to use a gun with accuracy? Highly trained NY police officer are only accurate 18% of the time.

Consider this: An AR15 can shoot 100 rounds per minutes. Use a bump stock and it can shoot over 500 rounds per minutes. How exactly is a teacher going to kill these shooters using an AR15???

Do people actually believe an armed teacher under crisis will be able to use their gun efficiently?

Instead of discussing arming teachers, perhaps we should a) ban bump stock b) ban ar15s and ar15 style weapons.

That would be two small steps towards progress. Address the fact people have such easy access to guns that can shoot 100 round per minutes and a damn bump stock that makes that weapon even more profile.

and FYI, you can arm all these citizens with ar15s with bump stock and they still have no chance if the government become tyrannical.

No civilian needs access to an ar15. Studies have shown if you prevent these mass killers from gaining access to a certain weapon, they won't commit the actual crime!

Believe it or not, criminals live by an ethos. You make it harder for them to commit a large-scale attack, they either won't commit it or go through a lot more steps, which make the likliehood of committing the crime much less likely.

Because our teachers are so stupid and incompetent that there's no way they could learn this skill.
