Why does it take pictures of white kids on the television to get us outraged and talking about guns? A lot of young men of color die in the inner cities in much larger numbers and we don't seem to care even a little bit. Why can't our communities of color be in the conversation about making gun laws and not just limit the conversation to angry white male alt rightists who use assault guns in their shootings?

In B4 tidal wave of hateful **** hits makes landfall.

Now that's a good question.

Over to you, CNN. How would you answer this concerned citizen's very insightful question?

(Seriously, AA...you DO know that people only care about what the Mainstream Media tells them to care about, right?)

Now you ask that? Now, after it's been brought up as part of the conversation every doggone time someone calls for an "assault weapons" ban?

The reason we don't talk about it is because the left wing social progressives would have to confront the failure of their policies which have stoked that violence and their propaganda arm in the MSM damned sure doesn't want to open that can of worms.

That is a very good question. I would guess that many, if not most, of these shootings are performed by persons already prevented from legally owning guns (based on age or criminal record) thus no new or stricter "gun control" laws can be said to be required (necessary?) just the (much?) more rigorous enforcement of existing "gun control" laws which, obviously, means placing even more young men of color in prison (5 years minimum?) for having violated "gun control" (illegal gun possession) laws (even when no shooting victim can be named) is the answer.

I so agree, and was glad to see inner city schools and senseless loss of young lives to gun violence included in the conversation at the WH yesterday.

A good point of discussion ruined by the OP’s clear partisan bias.

If you want to solve violence in the “color” communities...then end the war on drugs. We don’t need gun control. We need people controls. And if we did that we would have European level murder rates.

In 20 years, 39 kids have died in mass shootings with an "assault weapon" in a K-12 school. None were Black. In that time, 8553 Black kids age 14 and under have been murdered by a criminal with a gun. Why weren't these kids marching two weeks ago for those 8553 Black kids?

Because that is not the Agenda and in reality they do not seem to actually care. I would also add that some of the places that have these high murder rates also have some of the most draconian gun laws in the Nation, seems that ridiculous gun laws do not actually make us safer.

Yesterday when I looked the YTD murder count was 60 in Chicago. Far more than mass murders. All young male murder needs to be addressed.

Instead of the catch phrase, what new laws would have to be added and what old laws would have to be removed?
Just making drugs legal wouldnt make the community safer.

Murder is illegal now - everywhere and by anyone (yet juveniles get much shorter sentences). The big push is for more (national?) "gun control" so you need a case that shows that all current "gun control" laws were followed. Showing us that convicted criminals or those too young to legally own guns have already illegal guns makes the alleged need for more "gun control" laws a much harder sell.

How do you fix (gun or any other) crime by criminals? You keep those criminals locked up for a much longer times thus no new or stricter "gun control" laws are needed.

Because the gun control crowd calls it a "distraction" and doesn't want to talk about it.

Did you think this question had a different answer?

The right wing won't talk about it because they know banning fancy expensive weapons of war isn't enough in poor communities of color and that we need bans on six shooters and even simpler guns to solve that can't fire 500 rounds a minute.

The problems you see in inner cities have more to do with poverty and the war on drugs. Usually, the murders in these areas are slightly more specific. They are gang-related, or they are more personal. The victims themselves are more often than not rival gang members who have chosen these life styles to a certain extent. I think a better solution to these problems would be to do a better job of offering families in these areas a better way out of that cycle.

Was the US safer during prohibition?

The ultimate goal is All firearms banned, several banners have openly stated as much here. Not gonna happen.

I think you have to focus more on why the rest of the country doesn't have these problems. Six shooters are legal all throughout Illinois, but 99% of the death takes place on one side of Chicago. Chicago has always had crime problems going back to the 1920's. Back then they were largely caused by Prohibition. Chicago's location which was central to the country has always made it a significant hub for trafficing illegal goods. Now that prohibition is over the war on drugs is what gives modern gangs their revenue stream. End that, and we'll see how far that gets us.

Sorry, no. It's the LEFT wing which won't talk about it. Take it up with them.

Just making drugs legal wouldnt make the community safer.

Yes, it absolutely would. It would eliminate the #1 thing that all these gangs are fighting over. It would eliminate their primary revenue stream. Black markets are riddled with crime because the actors within it can't go to the police for help when they are robbed.

I don't see any party bias. Adonis lists himself as a progressive. OK. Progressives sometimes have a point.

Drugs are a problem. The war on drugs is a waste. But if drugs disappeared tomorrow you'd still have kids shooting kids.

Sure it would. But specifics?

Make marijuana legal.

Make possession no longer a crime.

Require treatment but not jail time if anything.

If someone commits a crime while using...get them treatment.

I would say do anything and everything within the governments power to attack the wallets.

Really? Cause I'm pretty sure this thread was started by someone on the left.

Hence the irony (and obliviousness) of his question.

Those on the right bring up gun violence in Chicago and inner cities frequently. If you paid attention, you'd know that.

Was the US safer during prohibition?

I dont really know the answer, I speculate that in one way it was safer due to less compsumtion of alcohol but then it was less safe due to illegal makers of alcohol and the increase in gang violence that it brought as well. But iagain pose the original question to you, so people can see the solutions that your advocating for and the people can discuss the likely fall out of those policies.
