Open Carry Firearm Stolen In North Carolina Walmart

Not a lot of specifics in the article or the linked news piece but it does expose one serious downside to open carry.

If you choose to open carry then using a good level 2 or level 3 holster should be a priority. Even a thumb snap can fail or be overcome quickly.

    Fayetteville ................the armpit of N.C.

Pretty freaking stupid to open carry there.

Yep, that seems like very poor gun control. The question remains: If you lack a CHL is it more likely that your handgun will be taken off of your person than if left in your parked vehicle instead?

My sister-in-law left her 380 in her car, unlocked in the driveway. It was stolen. She was only concerned that some a*** stole her gun. Not what it may be used for later. Lucky for her, it's not registered.
When I was in high school, I used to drive to school with my 12 GA on the gun rack during dove and quail seasons. I was not alone in this behavior. No questions ever. I could not imagine doing that in this age. And I cannot imagine the stupidity of leaving a gun in your vehicle parked overnight.

This is the downside of the moronic CHL requirement - either open carry or leave the handgun in your vehicle.

I have a serious problem with this kind of rule in AZ. Most state and city government buildings prohibit firearms but the only building I know of that has a secure place to store them is the state offices downtown. The city, for example, has a metal detector you need to walk through but no place secure to store your lawfully carried sidearm. The result is that it has to go in the car in a high crime section of town.

S**t, I didn't know there was any open carry in NC. Hope it stays away from my neighborhood.

I view open carry types as sort of the equivalent of those who have tiny schlongs and somehow think they can compensate by keeping their trou dropped in front, with "tiny" peeking out from under the pubes, for all to see in public. Getaf***inglife.

She left it in the vehicle overnight. I'm sure she could have open or concealed carried in the house, to bed, whatever. There are more than two or three choices. You suggest there is only your choice or stupidity.

I was referring to the Walmart shopper.
