Gun control from a Christian point of view

No, that is their choice, though it hurts my heart when I hear about it...I've learned the hard way to stay outta the abortion threads, for the most part...

I give you credit for that then.

I myself never go into the environmental sub-forum. I have a BS in natural resource management and taught environmental science for 13 years. I just cant bear it.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts...I can't worry about what other people might do, only what I do...that is who I am responsible for...

I'm just taking your stance to its logical conclusion. If you are right then we would be defenseless if we turn JW but the rest of the world hasn't.

"Return evil for evil to no one. Take into consideration what is fine from the viewpoint of all men. If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah.” Romans 12:17-19

Is it evil to protect the defenseless? Is it vengeance to defend yourself or your countrymen from an attack? BTW, that verse says "as long as it depends on you." Meaning that as long as you try to be peaceful on your part, you are good.

As Jesus said

I say unto thee that the ar 15 is the work of the lord god and all who infringe upon it shall be cast into the lake of fire

Come back when you have something of value to add, or at the very least something clever

Yay though I walk thru the valley of death I fear no evil.....cause I'm packing heavy heat

Shoot first, ask questions later

And if God objects we'll just have to ask for his forgiveness later

Well that's what Jesus always did....its the Christian way!

I've never heard of hand grenades being used for fishing. Anyway, handguns, rifles, and shotguns are all used in hunting and thus should be allowed. Whether or not a person should be allowed to own full automatics such as the Thompson you suggest is another debate since full autos are usually not used for hunting but as far as hunting is concerned, handguns, rifles, and shotguns should all be allowed.

Well hand grenades during WWII South Pacific for fishing are quite true; here's a not on it https://milesdavidauthor.com/2012/08/14/fishing-with-a-hand-grenade/

I'm more interested in your thesis however; are you making a religious statement about guns, or are you making a pro gun statement because you see religion in it?

Reply to post #50: Sorry, I was out for a while. From what I've read about reciprocity, it would allow that law over gun laws of individual states.

Research shows that states with right to carry laws have increased rates of gun violence (qz.com and Stanford News). Also, guns in homes of domestic abusers increases potential for homocide in those homes by 500%. Do I think we can keep guns out of those homes? Unlikely. But, why make it easier for lawbreakers to buy them?

And scary to me, I was told by a friend who visited Utah recently. Teachers are apparently packing hand guns to school there. Really?

Which came first, increased right to carry or increased rates of violence? There's a reason why people carry. What's the actual crime rate by those who carry?

Lautenberg is already the law, and that law doesn't prevent criminals from getting guns, nor does it stop the murder of women by non-firearm means. About 45% of adult female homicide victims are killed by means other than firearms according to CDC WISQARS.

They have been for some time. There are also many states where CCW holders can carry in K-12 schools and where CCW holders are allowed to carry on college campuses.

is there any evidence that those legally carrying cause the violence? you see in the last 25 years the number of states that adopted Constitutional Carry or Shall issue laws went way up and violent gun crime went down despite the claims of blood and death that the anti gun movement spewed
