Not sure it would pass constitutional muster.

Well, not sure it SHOULD pass constitutional muster, but tying it to interstate commerce means it uses the same Wickard v. Filburn fairy dust which has justified federal overreach since the '30s.
 
When I worked for the Michigan legislature I saw no shortage of Republicans who professed belief in local government and spouted high platitudes about local control. Until an issue came up where the local people went in a direction they did not like as right wingers. They then had no problem at all imposing their will on the local folks.

This is the same thing at work.

since the federal government (mainly through its courts) has overturned state bans on gay marriage, gay sex, interracial marriage and abortion, it should have the power to overturn state limitations on a real constitutional right

Who said anything about just Federal? I was talking about in general. So do you know what assuming means? Which again makes no difference. This one has a really good chance of passing.

Has nothing to do with my responce either way. Fact is federal conceal carry and silencer laws will also be coming back. Not going to be good for people such as yourself.

I already did as everything has been state level recently. He knows no anti or pro gun laws have been passed federally in many years. However this is a new day. Congress, the senate and presidency belong to the Republicans. So he is just putting forth wishful thinking.

You did? We are discussing a federal law. I asked for a federal law. I can name new gun control that has been enacted recently at the state level too. You lose

Well in this climate that is about all you have I would think. The reason I say think is I still have all my weapons, magazines etc. The 2nd is intact and gaining steam again.

It certainly has in the same states as usual. And this batch of new Federal laws will kill many of them. So yea, all you got is wishful thinking.
