Repealing the 2nd

true but many gun banners see them as the same, or in many cases, they see honest gun owners as WORSE due to the way many gun owners vote in elections
I voted for Trump, they must hate me.

You guys are in the weeds again. Who gives a frig what a gun looks like and what the hell does that have to do with my right to bear arms.

And y'know why? Because at the time there was no militia, and they needed guns to stop slave revolts.

You have a very distorted understanding of history and the 2nd amendment. Let’s examine the key phrase...”the right of the people to keep and bear arms.” It is the right of “the people.” Not “the militia.” It isn’t the “power of the government.” It is a right granted to citizens. Not government. The government doesn’t have rights. It has powers. And the right is to the people. Period.

And the original intent...was to allow citizens to buy MILITARY GRADE weapons. So in a way, yes, the intent was for militia use. Do you know who provided arms to militiamen? Let me give you a hint, it wasn’t the government. They were usually to equip themselves. They even had requirements for how much they were to have on store in case they were called into service. Sometimes their captains would even purchase a stockpile of arms privately to equip their units (this was even seen up to the civil war with union officers purchasing lever action and breach loading rifles for their entire units...rather than using slower and worse government issued equipment).

So really...the original intent...even in regards to “the militia,” was to allow the purchase of military grade firearms by the citizens. A practice the crown did not allow during the revolution.

Ps

“To stop slave revolts.” Funny. I guess when your argument is weak you must introduce race as a factor to try and bolster...at minimum the social justice warrior aspect because you need a sympathy vote. The intent of the militia was to keep order and fight foreign invaders and act as a military on stand by. Period.

If I carry a machine around that looks like a missile launcher, but isn't, you wouldn't steer clear?
Actually since a missle launcher is rare in the United States, my first reaction is to ask whether or not is real. But you exposed something that we've been saying all along. Gun controllers operate by fear and feelings rather than facts.

Soopairik, I'm having a little trouble myself picturing "a machine that looks like a missile launcher but isn't". You mean like a short length of sewer pipe or something? Maybe you could post a picture for illustration.
Maybe a replica RPG or something.

It looks like Soopairik has left the building.

Sure looks likes it.

Indeed. I've stated my points and you've stated yours. Looks like we're done here. Not to mention people have begun to resort to ad hominem, which symbolizes that people are no longer willing to have a civil discussion.

well tell us why a pistol grip makes a firearm more deadly/ You have made that claim and those of us who actually understand firearms are noting that is just plain wrong
