How much damage could the Las Vegas shooter have done with bolt actions?

you mean you think that a HS kid who thinks people his age shouldn't be allowed to watch films like BIRTH OF A NATION or TRIUMPH OF THE WILL because they might turn into Klansmen or Nazis, really doesn't know what he is talking about when it comes to the military and the use of small arms?

Whitman was a better shot, had the advantage of broad daylight, and had the sense to barricade the door. Vegas nut had a modified AR-15, bunched up crowd, and the cover of a thousand hotel rooms from where he may have been shooting. So, credit modern technology (smoke detectors) with the cops taking Vegas guy out 20 minutes faster than Whitman.

first in front of a judge for the state supreme court when I was sworn into the bar, then in front of the chief federal judge for the southern district of Ohio and the US Attorney General when I was sworn into the department of justice
