I've seen way too many liberals completely get embarrassed by the 2a folks, becuase ,whether or not you agree with them, they know their stuff.

Jimmy Kimmel: Stay Out Of The Gun Debate If You Can?t Be Honest

I read the first two- they didn't do their side any favours.

because???

I only had to read the first link and the first fact that the guy pointed out is not quite a falsehood but is very deceptive.

Your monologue was rife with false and untruthful assertions, claims that grossly distorted this critical debate and lowered standards for public discourse in this country. You claim, for instance, that Republicans Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan “won’t do anything about” the United States’ gun violence problem because “the NRA has their balls in a money clip.” This is a staggering accusation—that high-ranking elected officials are ethically compromised and financially beholden to a private advocacy organization. Is this true? Do you have evidence to back it up?
............
The NRA gave McConnell a little more money in 2014, his last election cycle, a total of $9,900.

So Kimmel made a joke that they have their balls in a money clip. The guy retorts with "they only donated X amount to their campaigns!" but that's not what Kimmel said. He's neglecting the fact that the NRA never donates much to campaigns. They run ads for candidates, they run ads to attack their opponents, they donate money to the RNC to be spread around, they donate money to local RNC affiliates etc. etc. and none of these are accounted for. For example, the NRA spent 900,000 dollars in ads for Mitch McConnell's senate seat in Kentucky. Either attacking his opponent or helping him. So this guy neglects all of that money and wants to pretend that Mitch only gets a paltry 9900 when in reality the NRA's money spent over all between ads, money that went to McConnell from RNC, donations etc it very well could be over a million dollars worth of help. So the guy was off by around 10000% or 100X the amount that he claimed.

And that was literally the first claim made in the first article you posted. You really want me to go through the rest of them? Or can you fact check this bull**** before you post it?

This concept that the NRA is a terrorist organization is so out of step with reality that one must question how sane the sellers are, and that is essentially were these guys are going even if they dont say so.

Well you didn't dispute of any of his facts.
You think he should have added more information. Fair enough.

But your take falls flat too. Jimmy Kimmel is asserting that people like Mitch McConnel are kowtowing to the NRA . That implies that the people in Kentucky are all for more gun control legislation but Mcconnel is afraid to upset the NRA. I reject that . The NRA is a populist organization. They represent the will of the people.

In debating terms, we call the above post" failure to rebut" .

all three of those authors went to great lengths to rebut what Jimmy Kimmel said, you might use them as an example of how to it.

In debating terms, we call my post, calling out the usual NRA BS.

Its always the same.

You don't think like us.

You don't understand the right.

You don't understand the purpose of the right.

You don't understate what is meant by infringed.

You don't know guns like we do.

You make technical mistakes.

You call things by the wrong name.

You don't know a 38.56adn 7/8th figamadget from a Louisville 69 cranistan.

And on and on and on and on. Its all the secret handshake stuff over and over and over again.

It matters not to me if you agree or not but that is what I read over and over and over again with this type of criticism against people who express outrage about gun crimes. And when you do that you miss a major point. Lots and lots and lots of people have one simple question that never ever gets answered?

why does any civilian in America need high powered military level weapons turned into automatic mode weapons like this in the first place. And I betcha I used a wrong word in there didn't I ? guess I don't know that secret handshake either. :doh:roll:

Oh, that's easy. Because the moment you take away these rights, the government will turn into a tyrant, the same way as in all other countries across the world. Oh wait...

He provided information that didn't really represent the full extent of the information. If this dumbass wants to fact check a comedian the least he could do is perform a more thorough check than someone who's never done journalism before could pull off in ten minutes FFS. It would be akin to saying that a company severely underpays their CEO because they only pay him 50K a year while neglecting to disclose that they give him 5M in company stock every year on top of his salary. That's not honest. Apparently you think that's the kind of thing that deserves a half hearted shrug. But then you go on to suggest that I'm the one that's wrong here when all I did was provide the full picture. You can't just say "that implies" and then twist his argument in to something he never said. You're literally twisting yourself to try to find a way to misrepresent exactly how wrong that asshole that wrote your article was and try to pretend that Kimmel got it completely wrong on this one thing. It's sad. Your guy got it wrong. I'm sure that Kimmel said something that was either not 100% factually accurate or maybe misleading or whatever, but if you attack him for being wrong at least find something he wa wrong about if you really feel the need to attack a late night show host.

Oh, that's easy. Because the moment you take away these rights, the government will turn into a tyrant, the same way as in all other countries across the world. Oh wait...

And their piddly stash of weapons will defeat the entire power of the Unites States Government. Got it.

People who think like that are simply crazy.

I am sick of their expressions of sorrow and concern. Over and over and over again ,this seems like the typical NRA gun fanatics lament after a gun tragedy like this.

I will bow my head in a moment of silence.

I will express my sorrow for the victims.

I will decry how America is going to hell at the hands of madmen.

Money? I might even donate to a victims fund to show I really care.

You need blood ? I might give that too.

But do NOT ever ask me to support a law which would prohibit me from buying that beautiful Graumans Chinese Commando X-67 PB special with the new special MortSahlmagic scope so I can see 45 miles away and knock the wings off a gnat at night going up and down hills and around corners using ammunition that can go through a fleet of Brinks security wagons parked in a row and still hit somebody on the other side blowing a hole in them as wide as mu Aunt Bertha - and shes a big one.

Don’t ever ask me that cause I want that and I get what I want.

Cause its my right.

Sorry - don't want to hear it anymore. Save if for the fellow true believers.

Well then what else would have have meant when he said the NRA has their balls in a money clip?

It's no mystery.

Should Kimmel get rid of all his armed security?

Hbut if you attack him for being wrong at least find something he wa wrong about if you really feel the need to attack a late night show host.

"..Orlando, Newtown, Aurora, San Bernardino, every one of these shootings the murderer used automatic or semiautomatic rifles, which are not weapons used for self-defense."

WRONG:
8 Experts Pick Their Home Defense Weapon of Choice

:....Because it is — it’s so crazy, there are loopholes in the law that let people avoid background checks if they buy a gun privately from another party, if they buy a gun online or at a gun show."

WRONG
He’s referring to the so-called “gun show loophole,” a loophole that doesn’t exist. If you buy a gun from a licensed dealer, then that dealer has to confirm that you’re legally entitled to purchase the gun. Period. It doesn’t matter if you purchase that weapon at a gun show, at the store, or standing in line at Burger King.

Why is that even relevant?

Kimmel demands that I surrender my ability to protect me and my family. Isn't it only right that he does the same?

Kimmel is a great actor and belongs on TV. It is sad that with all his talents he is so off the mark on what the root cause of these killings are. Not gun control but mental illness. Restricting the rights of 100+million law abiding citizens is not the answer to the mentally ill people who use guns to kill themselves and others.

But a great acting job.:thumbs::thumbs:

At least I hope he was acting and not that emotionally distraught. Otherwise he may need to seek some mental help. People that up upset are prime candidates for suicide.

And? What do you think you're proving here? I said he probably got something wrong but that your article was spinning what he said right at the beginning. You think you can prove a point by just switching on to something else?

That is why they oppose universal background checks? When 90% of America wants them? LOL

Thats a baldfaced lie as Kimmel never said you should not have a firearm to protect your family. But go and prove me wrong and give me that quote.

You will not.

You cannot because he never said it.

Hahaha all these discussions about guns are hilarious. :D

I'm a European and I find this gun mania in the U.S. both fascinating and totally nuts. Kind of whatever, just a bit sad you guys keep killing people like lunatics.

An outright gun ban is the end game of all this bull**** and you know it.
