Protect life: Get a gun, be taught to use it properly, carry, help make society safer

When you're done hyperventilating with outlandish admonishments perhaps you should re-read the OP?
It wasn't a call for "everyone" to be just armed willy nilly. It was for those who want to be an active solution to the problem. Armed, TRAINED Law abiding citizens are a great solution to gun violence.

Right. I'm the one being outlandish.

We have roughly 300 million guns in a nation of roughly 300 million people. If the solution to gun violence was guns, we wouldn't still have one of the highest rates of gun violence in the world. And we already have armed TRAINED citizens. They are called cops. Me buying a gun and going to the shooting range does not equip me to deal with armed criminals and mass shootings. That's insane. It also makes things much more difficult for the police knowing that just about everyone is armed.

All these guns and yet mass shootings happen with alarming regularity. You gun nuts are doing a piss poor job of preventing gun violence.

Query, where is the number one place mass shootings happen?

1: Gun Shows
2: Gun Ranges
3: Gun Free Zones

Think carefully, of the three, only one is a place where guns are illegal to be carried or possessed.

What Constitutional, effective, enforceable, would be enforced and necessary suggestions to you have?

So your solution to gun violence is more gun violence? That's just what we need, everyone carrying guns so that any bad situation can turn immediately deadly. Congratulations, this is one of the dumbest things I have ever read in my life. You are the poster child for all gun nuts.

If no one attacks you or commits a crime against you, then there's no gun violence.

If you think it's wise to defend yourself with pepper spray if someone does use a gun in a crime against you...er, best of luck to you.

ROFL. That logic is just...wow. I'm going to use it for my own purpose: my house is a gun free zone. There has never been a mass shooting there. So clearly it has prevented gun violence. By your logic, we might as well say that gun shows prevent mass shootings.

This issue has been studied to death. There is no definitive correlation in shootings between, for example, states with strict gun laws and states without.

At any rate, the bottom line is I don't want to have to live in a society where I have to carry a gun to feel safe, and I certainly don't want to live in a society where I'm worried that everyone around me might have a ****ing gun on them. Other countries with much stricter gun laws don't have the level of mass shootings as we do, so stop pretending that gun nuts are making society safer. That is objectively false.

There is no solution when gun nuts and the NRA control the narrative. The 2nd amendment has been twisted beyond all reason. Now it includes silencers? High capacity magazines. Assault rifles. It's insane.

Look, I grew up around guns. I've handled more than my fair share of them. I'm all for hunting and sportsmanship. If it were up to me that would be the end of it. Obviously not, and I'm never going to suggest that we round up all the guns from law abiding citizens. But we need to do away with this idea that any type of gun control is somehow infringing upon our constitutional rights.

We teach our kids fire drills and 'stranger danger.' Are those things unnecessary? (For many, they end up being so, thankfully)

How would a gun help in a fire?

In 1963 the US government sold 260,000 military surplus semi-automatic, magazine fed, intermediate calibers to US citizens for $20 including shipping to the buyer's home, without a background check. If the government felt that having these types of firearms in citzens' hands was a bad idea, they would not have sold them. The Second Amendment has actually been more narrowly interpreted recently than in the 140 years after ratification.

Please suggest gun control that is Constitutional, effective, enforceable, would be enforced and is necessary.

I see you refuse to answer the question.
Do shootings happen in gun free zones or in places where people are allowed and known to carry?

Hupp lost her parents that afternoon and gained the spotlight when she told the media she was not mad at Hennard. Instead she blamed the Texas Legislature for not allowing her to lawfully bring her gun into a restaurant.

In 1996, she won District 54 in the Texas House of Representatives, representing Bell, Burnet and Lampasas counties for five terms. She did not seek a sixth term and now tours the country advocating against gun control.

"I still get angry when I think about it," said Hupp. "I'm now married to the guy that was my boyfriend at the time. We have two children, and I'm saddened by the fact that they haven't gotten the chance to meet their grandparents."

What is an Assault rifle and how often are they used in "mass shootings"?

Real World: Assault rifle: a military rifle capable of selective fire. Already restricted under Class III.

Media: Assault Rifle: any semi-auto that looks like a military rifle or is otherwise scary looking.

Actual use in homicide: quite rare, statistically.
