Is it time we the people took action on guns?

Canadian here, need something clarified...aren't there some states where you're allowed to shoot someone for trespassing on your lawn? And if so, wouldn't this be a dangerous activism tactic against people who...umm...own guns?

There are no states where merely trespassing on ones lawn is justification for the use of deadly force. Where do people come up with this stuff?

Which will be as effective and entertaining as T-Rex bowling.
It's the process as defined by the Constitution. It doesn't say anything about people getting to change the Constitution just because they want it changed. It requires a lot of work and is difficult to do, as it should be. Overall its a much better solution than bullying and harassing your neighbors.

Sorry, wasn't referring to the process, but watching AA attempting the process. To be accurate, it will require 2/3 majority vote in both Houses and ratification by 3/4 of the states, not a simply majority as implied in your post.

Did you miss a day (or two) of class when they discussed the constitutional amendment process? ;)
No. Constitutional amendments generally start in Congress and require a 2/3 majority in both the House and the Senate.

I figured that would be a more logical option than trying to convene a constitutional convention.

Are you okay with mass shootings being second-page news?

Where news stories are printed is up to the newspaper editors, and does not depend upon my desires.

I see that you also suspect that AA will have a wee bit of trouble. First in finding folks to make him a "we" and then in using his unarmed and non-violent "force" to disarm the undesirables in the neighborhood. ;)

Yes there are definitely multiple . . uhm . . er . . . "shortcomings" in his plan.

....... the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

well, the right of the people HAS BEEN INFRINGED and that is regrettable .............

That is closer but it is not up to the state's congress critters to approve the amendment (on behalf of their state). The congress critters can (and have) initiated the amendment process but that can't approve of (ratify?) amendments.

You're right, thanks for the clarification.

It has become clear that the federal government is no longer able to do the job required of it to protect the people of the United States from nuts with guns, so action must be taken by the people. We must put pressure on our neighbors and people in our communities to be safer with their guns. That crazy Bubba or Jim Bob in your neighborhood in your area that owns six guns, tell him to sell them or we'll stand on their front lawns shouting at them until they take action to make the gun safer.

That family with the weirdo kid that plays violent video games all day and goes to school in a black trench coat? Demand that family give up their arms until that kid gets help. Apply pressure in numbers to these people and force a change. We can't just wait for our government to do what it ought to do any more than the French could wait for King Louie XVI and Marie Antoinette to give the people democracy. We don't have to be violent, but we will need to bend the rules and administer some citizen justice. It's a really sad state of affairs, but lives are at stake, here.

Hey...this idea sounds right up antifa's alley. You should go talk to them. They love mobs, violence and such. Heck, they "bend the rules" every time they get together.

(You ever get the idea nobody takes you seriously?)

I don't even know where to start... what has America become..?

Relax, this is par for the course for AA and almost no one else. This thread is no more indicative of Americans than a homeless man ranting about the camera the NSA installed in his brain so they could record him defecating in front of the local library every night.

how long you plan on lasting if you try to "administer your citizen justice" against someone who has guns and knows how to use them?

there are lots of people who would actually like people like you to start trying to take their guns on your own.

Judging by the frigid reception this plan has received so far, it does not appear that it is time for you the person to rise up against the tyranny of the 1st Amendment.

You people are in the minority. Most Americans are fed up with gun violence.

most people are fed up with inner city gangs killing each other and innocents who are caught in the crossfire. Many of us are sick of leftwing politicians who pretend the way to deal with those criminals is to pass stupid laws that only harass honest people. Lots of liberals are upset that gun control has cost them several big elections and rather than blame the politicians in the Democrat party for that stupidity, they blame the NRA.

only people who are dishonest or ignorant of reality blame honest gun owners for crime

Atlanta, nobody likes gun violence. Difference is, most of us have the awareness necessary to know that systemic problems with mental health and education are the causes of gun violence, not the millions and millions of legally owned guns that haven't been used to commit a crime, and never will be.

In case you hadn't noticed, nobody is on your side here.

Then you can be arrested for trespassing/ disturbing the peace and in some cases or states that can be taken as a threat so you could be possible shot.

Then you can be sued for stalking and harassment.
yes please do so. you will find that you are spending most of your time in jail or
being sued but please go ahead.

You wouldn't be standing out in front of my lawn for long.

Tell you what. Go stand on the front lawn of a gun owner and demand they give up their guns.

I'll nominate you for the Darwin Award.

the average honest gun owner will call the cops. He should go to the south side of Chicago or east St Louis or the South Bronx and go door to door demanding the gang bangers turn in their already illegally possessed firearms. Maybe they will be good citizens and hand over their crack and blow as well

That is the stupidest idea I have heard from 2nd amendment opponents. Unarmed people harassing armed people.Especially the idea of unarmed people harassing that crazy Jim Bob or Bubba who what some anti-2nd amendment trash consider to be armed to the teeth. Whats next are you going to suggest that PETA go to the Sturgis Motorcycle rally to stop people from wearing leather? Maybe you can suggest that little kids run out into speeding traffic to stop speeding.

1. What is "crazy" about owning six guns?

2. How does one make the gun "safer"?

Anyone that stands on my front lawn yelling that crap will get a visit from the cops and an all expense paid vacation to the pokey for trespassing and disturbing the peace. Cheers! :2wave:
