If guns make us safer.....

But is that a guns issue or a crime/drugs issue, I think it is the latter but it is not being helped by the masses of guns issue. But without crack, meth, cocaine and heroin the gun problem would be much smaller. And thus it would make the US much safer than it is now.

All of Europe has drug problems.....just not the gun deaths

That's because those laws aren't Constitutional, effective, enforceable and would be enforced. Most people don't know enough about guns statistics and our legal history to have a valid opinion about gun control.

Unsupported opinion

"why are you not allowed to carry at a NRA convention" is a universal claim saying that you can never carry at an NRA convention. Restrictions are typically by the venue, or in the case of a Presidential speaker, the Secret Service.

Another question. If we are just as safe without guns as with, why do anti gun politicians travel in public with a half dozen or so armed bodyguards?

Ya, let us give ordinary citizens access to grenade launchers, sniper rifles, or tracking point rifles?

Why is your concern with what ordinary citizens can own when the vast major of violent crime is committed by people who can't legally own guns of any kind? Ordinary citizens can already own grenade launchers through NFA 1934. What pray tell is your defintion of a sniper rifle and why shouldn't ordinary citizens own one?

Hell, let's just let citizens buy nuclear weapons. You guys can somehow interpret that as a constitutional right.

Not those of us familiar with Miller, Heller, McDonald and Caetano.

Because everyone else has guns

People that are pro safety are not anti-gun. They just believe only trained professionals should be armed.

The proof is left as an exercise for the reader. Have you finally realized that a straw purchase results in a registered gun, and the seller has no problem selling that gun to a prohibited person?

Yeah. We need to change that and make it far more difficult through registration

Another poster mentioned this and I thought it would make a great thread.

If guns make us safer:

why are you not allowed to carry at a NRA convention
why can you not carry loaded guns at a gun show (depending on the state)
why can you not carry guns on a plane
why can you not carry guns in court
why can you not carry around President Trump

and

With so many guns in the US....why aren't we the safest country on Earth?

America was founded on violence & our culture has always thrived on violence; guns are not the issue ............

I'm glad you admit the gun control of fully auto weapons works

Works? With automatic weapons being available for 50 years and a couple hundred thousand around, and virtually no problem (arguably 1 or 2 legally owned incidents), why did the banners find it necessary to totally ban ALL autos manufactured after a certain date? Are they more dangerous?

Another point. You can legally own several types of rapid fire weapons from Gatlings to bump stock and bump trigger weapons, yet these have never been a problem.

You have to admit it works though

Which is the reason I carry.

I have never had a problem with highly trained, highly background checked people carrying registered guns

Nah. Not complete registration

It's as complete as criminals would follow. Once the straw purchaser sells that registered gun to the prohibited person, it would never be registered, regardless of any requirement to do so. Nor could we prosecute any prohibited person down the line of possession for failing to do so.

Your scheme only works if criminals register their guns. They never will.

But we can prosecute the straw purchaser. We can not now

I am not a professional, but I am well trained. Starting in Cub Scouts with gun safety and target training through my military experience and CC license to the fact that I shoot more rounds than the average LEO.

Should I be allowed to keep and bear?

We will have exactly the same evidence to prosecute the straw purchaser - a document tying them directly to the gun. You've even suggested using the Form 4473 to act as the tool for registration.

Jalita Johnson and Daytron Mills were successfully prosecuted for strawling purchases - they just weren't adequately punished.

Yes if you are background checked yearly

But now we can prove his actions are illegal which we can not do currently

If you can pass a mental and pysch evaluation, yes of course.
