Texas police chief asked to leave doctor's office for carrying gun

Private businesses only have sovereignty to run their businesses as they choose if it's something you agree on, right?

Person X doesn't do exactly as you want them to? DAMN LIBRULS!!!

Whatever dude, it's completely idiotic and you know it.

So what you're saying is there is a correlation between cops and masculinity issues

Only in your mind. That didn't occur to me, wonder what that says about your mindset. You dislike cops I guess.

I see lots of signs in San Antonio prohibiting folks from taking fire arms into private business's, its there right, and gasp, I am quite sure many of them are not librals.

I'd bet most of their customers are.

How does a police officer enforce the law in the presence of criminal activity without a gun?
They say please and barring that they tell them how much trouble they will be in. I mean that's what I would do.

No finger shake?

My knee jerk reaction to this was "that was silly of the doctor's office".

But now that I think of it, when I go to the doctor's office for an exam/checkup I always lock up my sidearm in the car. Not because of doctor policy (I have never noticed a sign) but because I might be having to undress. I don't take my gun to places when I can't keep it on my person at all times. Doctors' office, clothes shopping. And in my younger single days, though my clothes stayed on, I didn't wear them into strip clubs if I was planning on a lap dance.

If the Chief wasn't getting an exam himself, and was, say, just escorting a family member, then I would revert back to my original position of calling it a silly policy. But it makes sense to me for people who are actually being examined to secure the sidearm in the car first.

That case is about whether the police are required to enforce a restraining order NOT whether they must act to ptotect when a citizen is in danger in front of them
Justices Rule Police Do Not Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone - The New York Times
A restraining order is mentioned. First paragraph. WASHINGTON, June 27 - The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation. [/B]

And I bet a lot of firearms still go in. Hence concealed.

That is a news article. I read the actual opinion. It was confined to enforcing a restraint order

You should read more discussion on the case, including precedent cases South v Maryland and Bowers v DeVito. Do you believe that SCOTUS decisions don't have broader implications? Do you believe that the nly implications of Citizens United were to allow movies to be aired before an election?

I believe SOME Scotus decisions have broader implications. Sometimes they are very narrowly defined. Show me in the decision that the justices said police have NO duty to protect

this is just more of the same ole double standard BS when it comes to LE & civilian citizens

why would the LEO need to openly carry in a medical office; is he in fear for his life, again?

must be tuff having to sit in a waiting room & have all of those eyes on you; I would be in fear of my life too

It's Texas, get a clue.

Were there and black males in the waiting room?

Was he there on duty and acting in official duty?

If not, is it not the discretion of the business to set their policies, for good or bad?

Does someone hate private property and private business? lol

It's common sense you don't ask a police officer to disarm. They have enemies. And I don't mean pip squeak anti gun people, real enemies who got years behind bars for maybe even destroying innocent pip squeak people.
And yes, a cop can get time off for a check up. It's called sick leave, comp time, or OOD. (Officer Off Duty)

Hate private property and businesses. Of course they do, Pumpkin.

Why would you ever need to take a gun into a doctors office ?

We don't

Why would you ever need a gun for a walk on a bridge in London?
