Australians surrendering weapons...

I bet you'd never say that in Perth. Especially if your spine depends on having a gun.

Yes, one must watch their mouth around libs, they tend to turn to violence when you disagree with them.

Wow. Spineless morons? That's such a nice way to talk about the citizens of Australia who is arguably your most loyal ally and remains the only country to have served alongside the United States in every major conflict since WWII.

The average Australian has never owned a firearm and has no desire to do so. We don't have that gun culture here. The difference bwtween the US and Australia is like night and day when it comes to the Gun Debate. It's ridiculous to even attempt to draw any comparisons.

If you don't have a gun culture, then there was no reason to surrender your liberties to government control. Sorry if that offends you. I'm sure many Australians are lovely people, and you certainly have a rich and beautiful culture and history. And, even though your land is infested with dangerous and venomous creatures of all kinds, it is beautiful I'm also sure not every Australian agrees with banning guns.

Aussies are libs? I don't know about that but I do know that if you call one a 'spineless moron' you'll be required to back it up. And if you do it in Oz you'll both be unarmed, which might be a spine-check for you.
I bet, as I said, you wouldn't do it.

Yes, I'm well aware libs believe freedom is moronic. But thanks for sharing.
Freedom is about self determination and free choice, nothing that you have ever demonstrated as understanding. You made an utterly moronic post, very consistent from you by the way, simply because someone freely choses to do something. As for the paranoia from government, well it is a great reflection of the confidence you have in the choices you made at the ballot box. As for you awareness, do not delude yourself, it is clear that the only thing you are aware off is your warped view of reality.

And the good citizens are still denied firearms because of what they MIGHT do. Guilty until proven innocent?

Guns have for the most part been stamped out. There's a new generation that have really know idea about firearms other than the movies and news media. It's how they are raised or indoctrinated to think of guns as really anything but evil and to be avoided and we are crazy here to allow them. Maybe indoctrinated is a poor choice, but hey they do it here.

Are you aware how stupid this sounds?
Maybe I should ask first, do you really believe this statement?

Do you consider yourself immune to indoctrination?

How specific do you want me to be?

Every person has both a duty and an obligation... not to mention the Right to be armed for not only self defense, but the defense of loved ones AND, as a last resort, to prevent tyranny in government.

No, not every person has such a duty and obligation for that.
The United States is the only country I know of that has a Declaration of Independence as a foundational document, outlining the principles upon which their Constitution is founded.

The DOI, however, is not a governing legal document and is utterly irrelevant to people in Australia.
One of the major foundational principles that we have in the United States is the belief that some Rights are not given by man, and consequently, not subject to the laws of man. The Rights of Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness are beyond the reach of the government.

A. Wrong. Get convicted of a serious crime and let me know how your 'right' to the pursuit of happiness is working out.
B. Irrelevant to the people in Australia.
According to the 2016 Census in Australia, a little over half of the people identified with being Christian. Traditionally, that number is much higher, but the liberalization of western culture is diminishing all facets of our culture. Be that as it may, Christians should have a working knowledge of the Right and responsibility to own weapons, be armed, and ready to defend their lives, the lives of loved ones and to be a bulwark against tyranny in government.

What? Everying you just stated is irrelevant to your original contention.
If over half of Australians identify with being Christian and roughly 9 percent abstain from giving an answer, we can safely conclude that, culturally, we are dealing with a society that should understand the principles of things like unalienable Rights - even when their government refuses to acknowledge them.

If you knew anything, whatsoever, about being a Christian, you'd know that what you're spouting is nonsense. Christ eschewed weapons, turned the other cheek and let himself be nailed up.

I can assure you that he doesn't know just how stupid that sounds. Completely and blissfully unaware of that fact.

Most Australian and New Zealand farmers have rifles. They are used around the farms. Very rarely are those weapons used improperly and when they are, they are impounded. We do not generally own handguns, having no need for them. For an Aussie or Kiwi to have a rifle, we generally must pass a course of study and we are licensed to use them. There are laws which must be followed in order to keep that license. In NZ, the bolt must be removed from a rifle, it must be stored separately from the rifle and so must the ammunition. if it is a shotgun then it must be stored broken and the ammo stored separately.

Frankly I find this much more ideal than the US 'free for all'; moreover, as there has not been a mass-killing incident in Australia OR NZ since we enforced stricter gun control legislation.

Because they're spineless morons who deserve our scorn?

I think some of their laws are silly but if you check the Australian performance in WWII it was damn good.

free citizens should be able to own the same level of weaponry that their own state maintains to use against its own citizens

How the **** do you come up with such crap? Owning a gun is about self determination and it is a right, but certainly not a duty nor an obligation and to say that it is Christian to own a gun is just utterly moronic. Such stupidity is what brings more opposition to gun ownership by rational law abiding people.

You apparently don't know much about the Bible. Even less about history and nothing about civility.

"Some of their laws are silly"? You mean like the one that bans guns? Lol.

Christians do, however.

The DOI is a legal document at the head of the United States Code and I never even implied it is relevant to the "people in Australia."

You are welcome to your opinion.

If you knew anything, whatsoever, about being a Christian, you'd know that what you're spouting is nonsense. Christ eschewed weapons, turned the other cheek and let himself be nailed up. Cow dung. You are very wrong.

My responses are in red.

Anything else American that the rest of the world needs to copy?

Our mass murders are being done by political jihadists (of which your small isolated country cannot begin to fathom.) The balance of the mass murders are committed by people on SSRIs (drugs that are "legal" in America and used to pacify the population - sourtesy of our government.) It's not relevant to this discussion.

This is about an American whining about Australian laws.
