Do many Americans not realize their gun rights do not apply to other countries?

Undocumented immigrants from Mexico with guns. That would throw the Democrats into a tizzy.

Nah, it would just be spun into sympathy that they had to protect themselves against the big bad Americans that do not want illegals sneaking in.

No, it's paranoid nonsense. There are no UN plans to remove guns from people, nor will there ever be. It's an empty NRA talking point that sells more gunz to the ignorant minority.

You may find Barbara Frey's report to the UN on self defense interesting. No, the UN has no plans to disarm Americans, nor would they ever have that capability, but their officialives position is that self defense with a firearm is not a right of the individual but is reserved to the State.

Why not? If the second amendment is a fundemental right, then by nature of the privileges and immunities clause of the 14th amendment then you should be able to

Why not what?
what are you asking? seems by your post you are stating you believe gun rights should match in every state. Like i said in my post I agree, currently they do not and i said that should NOT be the case. MY CWP should be national like a drivers license and all sates should be open carry.
If you are talking about Canada, i have no clue why our constitution matters.

I think most Americans assume that other western countries enjoy the same or similar freedoms we do here.

Especially when it comes to things like freedom of speech. Some european countries have restrictions on what you can and can't say.

Also I have read that if Americans want to bring certain types of guns into Canada, it can be easy.

I heard a hunting riffle can be brought into Canada, if you declare it, fill out a form and pay 35 dollars. Bringing in an uzi would be a problem though and there are no conceal carry permits in Canada.

Canada is not as strict as the UK or Japan, when it comes to guns, there is a stigma around hand guns, but not hunting riffles, for the most part.

I think the terrorist attack in Ottawa back in 2014 would be worse, if the offender got a hold of something more powerful then an hunting riffle.

However there is no constitutional right to bear arms in Canada:

But messing with hunting riffles can be costly politically:

You can bring handguns too, if you bring them for an approved purpose, get an authorization to transport before coming to the border from RCMP and store them in accordance with Canadian law

something that the drug traffickers certainly comply with

You should but many states have made it complicated. I have been traveling all around the US by car this past month. I have a Virginia CCW permit. Most states recognize it but not all of them. A few of the states that don't recognize it are California, Colorado, and Oregon. Sadly those are three of my favorite states to visit. Why oh why are the states that are free enough to allow recreational marijuana not free enough to allow me to carry? And before anyone asks, no, I NEVER carry while under the influence.

Now, it is legal for me to transport my gun through states like California, but they must be unloaded and in a lockbox in my trunk. So just before going into such states I have to pull over somewhere and pack up my unloaded sidearm. These standards are outlined by federal law.
