I really didn't think I should watch this, but I was glad I did. In a sane, 21st-century society we don't want people toting guns around in airports. I don't want to have to go to the airport and worry that some crazy person might have a gun and start unloading on everyone there. Our right to be safe must come before the rights of this woman to feel like the Atomic Blonde or that man to feel like Rambo.

Well done New York for taking a stand here I'd say.

"Safety" is not defined by the level of irrational fear you freely confess you carry around with you.

Also, "safety" does not trump rights. Who could be more clear on the point than Ben Franklin? "Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Perhaps you should bubble-wrap yourself and never leave your basement.

Yet nothing prevents anyone from driving up to the airport and start "unloading on everyone". The doors are wide open and there's no security checkpoints to get in. There is, however, a mass of people waiting to get through security or waiting for their luggage to show up that would be easy targets for anyone just walking off the street.

It's a "feel good" law that actually does nothing to protect anyone. It does serve its purpose of harassing law abiding gun owners.

Drive 100 miles an hour on the freeway and try to tell the cop safety can never supersede "liberteh!"

More appropriate, and less idiotic, would be for you to stop saying insanely stupid things, including nonsense like this.

Here's the thing --

A person who cherishes liberty -- and that would most likely not include someone who uses the word so contemptuously as to mock it with "libterteh!" -- understands that no right should be restricted, ever, unless at the very LEAST there's a demonstration of a compelling problem with the exercise of it.

There is NO case where someone carrying a checked gun according to the regs depicted in the video caused any problem of any kind with that gun.

There are almost no cases of shootings at any airports at all, and those which have happened have been committed by non-passengers.

There is no basis whatsoever by which New York's restrictions here are justified.

And it IS New York which needs to justify itself, not the gun owner.

Liberty-minded people understand that.

People who are not so liberty-minded tend not to.

You said this:

I gave you an example of where safety does trump rights.

You gave a moronic, idiotic, unserious response apropos to absolutely nothing.

Driving is not a right.

And then upon motion, the court grants me judgment per Rule 56(e).

I never feel safe in places designated "gun free". The number one place nuts wanting to kill lots of people are gun free safe zones. That's why I live in Texas.

"Your government is keeping you safe! You need us!!" is the message being driven.

In case anyone had the thought of getting uppity the next time the government demands more power, which will most likely be today.

What??? You still can go into an airport in New York with a gun and gun down people... If you want to do it, there isn't much anyone can do to stop you.. The policy of guns in the airport does nothing for those who would like to shoot up an airport...

Against the firearms insanity that blights your society

No apologies for not being as timid as your society, which now fully prostrates itself at the altar of "safety" while contemptuous of liberty:

Driving on public roadways is not a right, it is a state issued privilege, so your example, that enforcing a speed limit restricts rights, is 100% pure BS.

Well its a bit better than being like this I suppose

Nobody here has ever worried about getting shot by a camera except criminals

Difference, of course, is that "Watchful Eye" poster is a real thing, whereas this is not.

"He loved Big Brother."

Nope, you gave an example of safety restrictions being placed on a privilege.

Why are you more worried about being shot by a camera than a gun ?

When was the last time a surveillance camera killed someone ?

Wait...who are you talking about here? The people who think they need to carry a gun around on their person at all times in order to feel safe even when they're in an airport that's on lock down with more security than some prisons?

Being concerned about someone walking around in a public place with thousands of people around carrying a loaded gun is a perfectly rational thing to be concerned about especially in this day and age. Believing you need to carry a loaded weapon around with you at all times just in case someone is after you is the cowardly and irrational fear.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms is not a right to shoot multiple folks in airports or anywhere else. Someone wanting to do so is not likely going to care about some "gun free zone" law violation since they are willing to commit mass murder which has a much more severe legal penalty.
