61-year-old man shoots teenager trying to steal his gun on Detroit's west side

For not having much, if any, training the guy did OK. He feigned appeasement (not cooperation), kept his gun hand away from the threat and didn't hesitate when he got a chance to shoot. Not fancy but fundamentally sound and effective!

What are the odds that any of the numerous "gun law" charges (cited in the link) will add even a single day to the sentence for the attempted more serious crime(s)? My bet is that a plea deal will result in no more than a 5 year sentence (for all charges combined) being served in a juvenile facility - basically the same as charging him as a minor and assigning the maximum sentence for armed robbery would bring.

On top of that he gets a little "street cred".

I don't know how pulling off a botched armed robbery and getting shot in the process which was captured on a security video would do much for your "street cred". Whoever that stunt impresses is not worth impressing.
