While some fans celebrated the trailer's release, many Twitter commenters condemned the violence of the trailer, calling its tone a poor fit for America's fraught political climate. "Fair or not, I can't think of a more tone-deaf idea in this political/social environment than white filmmakers remaking #DEATHWISH," tweeted Forbes critic Scott Mendelson.
"Pretty sure the NRA just found their next ad," wrote one Twitter user, with another calling the trailer "a grim, grave, corrosive urban horror picture."
The backlash to the backlash has already started, with voices on the rightcalling out the "Democratic meltdown over Death Wish."

My wife is a huge fan of Bruce Willis, Francis Castiglione is her most favorite comic hero. We both really enjoyed, even if it's dated, watching the original Death Wish.

This movie, being remade and updated but apparently keeping the same theme and attitude of the original film... WE are very big fans needless to say. The lefties wetting their diapers over this however, amuse the ever loving **** out of us.

It's not the violence, it's the politics. You didn't see this sort of mind losing over Denzel's "The Equalizer" which is really the same kind of film.

I think it stems from Eli Roth being the director and the movie Green Inferno.

Well, I don't see how they see this as 'alt-right'. Looks like your standard action flick to me. :shrug:

Eli Roth made a movie prior to this called Green Inferno.
It's about a bunch of "hug a tree" types going to jungle and getting eaten by the native cannibals.
It was meant to make a mockery of those people.

That's why they're running with the everyone I don't like is "alt right" crap.

That was the one where the native blew green crap up each other's noses. Somewhat more disgusting than your average zombie movie.

It's gross as hell.
They fed that one girl some "meat" and she *went* all over the cage they were in.

I saw a few parts of it and that was enough.
Eli Roth usually makes some graphic stuff, this may be more tame though.

That's another good one. And Barack, I mean, Denzel was good in it. Denzel movies work for me.

I like it. Nice update on the old Charles Bronson films. Bruce is perfect for this role.

I get now why he is in this video. Until now, I had no idea where the idea to make Bruce the vigilante in this MTV clip came from.
