Miss Sloane - the Movie

IMO there is no such thing as a "great movie about gun control," unless it's a movie against gun control. :coffeepap:

Your view was stated by some of the stars in the movie, so maybe you will get something out of it.

The NY Times review also had some good things to say:

Jessica Chastain rules the Washington-based political thriller “Miss Sloane” with such steely authority that you are hard pressed to imagine another actress playing the imperious, largely unsympathetic title character.

Apparently you missed the rest of the review where it rips apart the movie itself.

It's the perfect storm for a horrible movie. Take a 3rd rail issue, combine it with the part of politics that both sides hate and add in unlikable 1 dimensional characters and you end up with a piece of **** that no one really wants to watch.

Did you see it? Have you ever liked a movie that some critics don't like? It's a David vs Goliath story. Or a Davida vs Goliath. The ending is quite clever, which is probably a credit to the writers.

I thought it was great. Really well written

D.C. drama ‘Miss Sloane’ lobbies for ticket-buyers with powerful performance by Jessica Chastain: movie review

Yeah, here are objective sources:

Miss Sloane (2016) - Box Office Mojo

Miss Sloane (2016) - Financial Information

This movie grossed -- as in, the full amount it took in -- $5.8 million. Worldwide.

Against a budget of $18 million.

In a business where a movie has to take in three times its production budget just to break even, it bombed badly.
