liberal gun haters are afraid of their own perceived incompetence with weapons and are terrified of taking the responsibility of making personal safety an individual duty

This may not be the study per say but I think it does kinda cover it. It's more a study of Hoplophobia and the why's. As there seems to be some here [not saying,just saying].

The fact that there are exceptions does not make his argument a straw man. In fact arguing that he is wrong because there are exceptions is in itself a straw man.

The fact all leftists are not gun banners is irrelevant to the argument. The argument is that, with extremely few exceptions, if any, gun banners in the USA are going to be leftists.

So the discussion is directed to why that is. Or if it isn't true, why isn't it?
