Heads up I have more than one post on this thread

Still waiting for you to show how a weapon isn't a tool.

a device or implement, especially one held in the hand, used to carry out a particular function.
"gardening tools"

Ok superstar why do you think the gun was invented ?

Heres a clue.......

(this should be fun)

The denial really is total with you guys isn't it ?

BWWWWWAAAAAAAHHHHH...

That's funny.

Seriously.. you are hilarious... I mean trying to say my competition pistol is "designed solely for killing another human being"..

My competition pistol is designed for competition. Putting little holes in paper.. and is a terrible example of whats necessary for adequate self defense.

My rifle that's uses as a tool in the butchering process on my ranch.. pigs and cattle... is a TERRIBLE example of whats necessary for adequate self defense. Terrible... but a great tool for dispatching pigs and cattle and the occasional fox, skunks or raccons that are a nuisance.

But here you are.. waxing rhapsodic about "guns are designed to kill other human beings".

Well guess what skippy... you know why computers were invented.. it was to help in the WAR effort. Research was done to help make better and faster calculations for aiming large weapons, from that code breaking to help sink German u boats and so on.

so according to your premise.. your are typing on a weapon designed to aid in the killing of human beings.

Oh and don't get me started in those weapons we use to cure cancer... you know the history of nuclear research. Golly.

Next time you might get on better by addressing the content of my post rather than ranting with your usual religious zeal

And that automatically makes you right?

You haven't heard? He is a combat veteran and actually shot guns in a war zone. That means he knows more about guns and gun laws and statistics AND has more safe handling experience than all of us...who have decades of safe handling experience and thousands of rounds fired from pistols, shotguns, rifles, muzzle loaders, and even air rifles...even though it has likely been decades since he has even handled a loaded firearm. Let alone fired one. ;)

yeah, me being a federal attorney for 24 years, winning several major shoots as a shotgun competition, tons of pistol matches, 100+ hours of formal shoot/don't shoot training, national records in speed shooting etc, pales in comparison to his experience.

sarcasm off. his posts have never demonstrated any understanding of our laws, gun issues or anything else relevant to this discussion

Let us also remember that UK is also superior in their knife laws:

https://www.gov.uk/buying-carrying-knives

Even have to have a good reason to have a pocket knife or a fixed bladed tool like a hatchet or machete. Glad we live in the states where the reason can be "go **** yourself."

Lol

Well it means I know more than you (not much of a challenge I know) so thats a start

Thats right it does. Paper targets don't shoot back

I'm an astronaut BTW

Hmmmm

So.. thousands of hours on a range.. thousands of rounds fired.. hours of shoot or don't shoot training.. give you less knowledge of handling a gun than handling a firearm once while getting shot back at?

Wow.. then those gangbangers that turn their weapon ninety degrees and manage to hit everyone and everything else but who they are aiming at when they shoot are experts in handling weapons.. because "their targets shot back"...

Wow.. so bizarre.

Thats right theres no comparison whatsoever. Being a macho gung ho gun hero like you see in Hollywood bears no comparison whatsoever to reality . Paper targets don't shoot back

If any of you wannabe Rambos had been anywhere near combat you would already know this

That's funny. See first.. no one here is a wanna be Rambo. no one here has any inclination to charge around with a M60 shooting up a town. at all.

that skill doesn;t translate well to doing what we want to do with firearms.. like shoot paper targets.. use them to hunt elk, use them to kill pests like coyotes harassing my cattle. Nor does it even translate to being able to defend myself from a burglar..

Face facts dude.. your experience has very little to do with the real world in which the vast majority of people use firearms in the US.. in competition, in hunting, in possible self defense.

Now.. if we all wanted to be soldiers in a colonial power and use firearms to control territory you have seized. .. well then you might have more experience than the rest of us.

but the vast vast majority of American gun owners don't have such bloody aspirations.

Wow.. so bizarre.

I remember hearing this nonsense years ago-how an USPSA grand master who shoots targets under extreme time pressure with lots of "no shoot" targets-wasn't any better than some street thug in a gun fight. One of them got into a gun fight. Shot four gangbangers before any of the thugs got off a shot.

Obviously the best training is force on force with simulations. Yeah I do that too. But the fact remains, anyone who trains is going to be way ahead of almost every active shooter, or nut case or narconista

I Know lots of combat vets-like my nephew who did three tours in the Rangers-the DMZ in Korea, and two really high activity tours in Iraq doing mainly house clearing operations. Then he went through Q school and was the OIC of a alpha camp in Afghanistan where he and his subordinate Green Berets were doing ambush and interdiction actions against the jihadists. I don't know how many fundimuzzies he whacked personally, he said it was hard to tell when he and another guy threw frags into a room full of jihadists and shot what was still standing or in fire fights were often 2-3 GBs hit the same guy. But any time he was on leave when he was still doing that sort of stuff, he'd come home to the range where I shoot and we'd work on stuff. Maybe you want to call him a "wannabe Rambo".

Aye, but the PDF and DIGBATs did.

I don't know any wannabe Rambos, but I do know an awful lot of combat vets who still shoot for sport and competition.

Oooooh. Somebody heard some war stories from the safety of their living room. Lol

yeah the guys who were in the elite units tend to be very active in shooting competitions. One of my favorite rivals on the speed shooting circuit here in SW Ohio was a special operations guy for a Canadian unit in the sand box. He went back several times as a "contractor".

It's nice to hear stories. It's different to live them

Been there, done that. Got the combat patch, threw away all the brown t-shirts.
