The discussion of guns always pops up after a mass shooting. This isn't a surprise. But how do you feel about the discussion of warning signs? It always seems lacking in the discussion. So let's discuss it now. Especially as it relates to gun control.

When the vast majority of the mass shooters show warning signs prior to the events...what does that tell us about our system? What do you think needs to be done?

It would appear we're not as a society really all that into doing anything.

Warning signs? One of the biggest is a history of violence against women.

Actually the answer is very simple...

Of The 100% of extreme kooks (left or right) 99.x % of these kooks are just loudmouth idiots, there is the 1/x % that will actually act out violently ,,

They all have the same type of background.. i.e. social media outlets to spout hate.. Protests to promote hate..

So.. Until that 1/x % actually does something illegal, they are just exercising their constitutional right.

You can't arrest all of them simply because they are obnoxious morons.. you would be violating their rights..

I didn't know that about women. What I do know is that mass shooters as a general rule have warning signs. People don't snap.

That's why I found the article interesting. Actually, I should have suspected it. My wife mentioned something about this a year or so ago. IIRC, she said these shooters are always men. And, then she added, "I bet they have a history of violence against women."

Turns out, they usually do.

Given that there are 10 million domestic violence incidents per year, it doesn't appear that DV is a good tool to use for a warning sign for mass shooter/active shooter.

Sure. Just like seeing if they have a penis is not an accurate predictor. But, both a penis and a history of DV do seem to be common denominators among many of those shooters.

The politically correct atmosphere makes it difficult to report anything.

"Neighbors of husband and wife San Bernardino shooters 'noticed them acting suspiciously but did NOT report them for fear of racial profiling'

The husband and wife shooters who shot 36 people in San Bernardino in Wednesday had been acting suspiciously in recent weeks, neighbors claim.

Syed Rizwan Farook, 28, and Tashfeen Malik, 27, were apparently working late at night in their garage and receiving numerous packages to their home in Redlands, California.

But according to nearby residents, they did not report them for fear of racial profiling.

It has since emerged the couple had 12 pipes bombs, a stock pile of tools to assemble explosives, 2,000 9mm rounds, and over 2,500 223 rounds in their suburban home."

Even when they are reported, the lack of resources makes it difficult to stop them.

Perhaps laziness contributes as well.

Like Fenton Lum said. Maybe its just apathy in general.

But when you start to creating a profile and understanding who is at risk...you know who may need counseling and other measures.

Local police just wrote an article about this on their Facebook. If you see something, say something. They had a man out of place and acting suspicious but nobody reported him because they thought it would be a waste of time. Didn't want to bother the police. He later attempted to sexually assault some young woman but she was able to fight him off.

I have called the police twice in the past few weeks. Some scuzball outside my place (looked like he was dealing or pimping out this crackwhore looking woman). Was way out of place for the neighborhood. Then another guy walking around knocking on doors at my old apartment. It was like midnight and most people had cleared out for the summer. Was a college apartment mainly. I was pretty sure he was looking for empty place to rob.

And to think about my son doing a lot of business with E-Bay, stuff coming and going.Wonder how many neighbors are peeking out their windows?
