Semi-auto means the same as Semi / Auto

That guns were created and designed to kill other humans... the Spanish did it first and all of Europe followed.

They did not invent firearms to target shoot or go sport hunting... it was to kill enemy soldiers.

Until a person can accept that as fact then there is no sense debating the rest.

I don't have a problem with something that is designed to kill. That threat alone makes firearms a deterent when used for protection and defense and allows me to kill boar. So what? Do you recognize the difference between killing and murder?

After two tours in Iraqi and PTSD

Need I say more

Most of my co-workers have seen more tours than that back to back in Afghanistan and Iraq and are still deploying (EOD). They don't seem to have those issues. But that is an individual issue so I don't take issue with those that dislike firearms for that reason. However I should expect the same respect in return. That is not aimed at you at all but at those that want to impose their fears on others.

Respect in which form would I have to exhibit to please you, not that I give a flying fig, goodnight

You gun humpers are as unreasonable as the gun banners

What, in your mind, is a gun humper?

Not at all. Thank you for your service to our country. I wish the best and hope you have a full recovery.

Who does?

Good thing neither of us are talking about laws right now... just common sense that the gun lobby is trying to skew gun death statistics for political purposes.

Modern-like guns were designed in Europe, especially the Spanish, for their army to KILL with.

I didn't realize that discussing terminology equated to me be physically scared...

A psychologist you are not...

Pressure cookers were designed to cook food... not kill. Guns were designed to kill.

Guns were designed to kill. Cars were designed to transport people. If you see a comparison in that then I can't help you.

No. Arguing that the difference between the two matters when discussing a murder is the issue. Some media person says assault instead of semi-auto and all you hear from the gun nuts is how the left is trying to blah blah blah when the real issue is the murder... not the terminology.

Who said that we need more gun laws? In fact, I am arguing for less.

2 pressure cookers ruined a nice marathon a few years ago. It's amazing how creative and efficient evil people can be .....eh?

Have you nothing better to do? I found some cool fossils today! Will you be in fl soon? I see you cant answer my question....sad

Can you ask that again in proper English?

Cool. Have a nice night.

I could have written this better it seems. You have already shown respect by respecting that my experience is not your experience and though you prefer not to own a firearm you respect my right to. Others do not. When I wrote, "I should expect the same respect in return" it was not directed toward you so I apologize.

Oh. See... I wasn't blaming the tool. I was pointing out the semantic argument of parrying terminology instead of addressing the violence.

Kind of like targeting the gun instead of the violence.

Ambition must be created to counter act ambition. The reality here is that the "gun banners" take an incremental approach to fool the ignorant. To pretend that this "next piece of common sense gun control will be what solves the problem with human violence."

Are you telling me you are naive enough to believe that gun control will stop at an "assault weapons ban" or magazine capacity restrictions? Or semi autos? Further...none of those are reasonable requests.

I don't pretend to have the answers to combating the illegal use of firearms. I have been in law enforcement for over 10 years, and have never encountered a criminal who was caught with a firearm, that didn't have a prior convection of having a firearm. I feel the path in combating this problem starts with accurate information that is being released to the public, and the end of the scare tactics using scary terms to describe a firearm! I constantly hear the demand for civilized conversations on gun control, but when the information that politicians put out is half truths, or out right lies it is hard to even want to have that conversation.

OK, then let's address "knife violence" your way too. Should we seek to limit access to knives for the general public or lock up those that are convicted of criminal violence?

Oh my god. Who . the . **** . cares!!

Semi auto... auto... assault rifle... when the bullets start spraying and little kids start dying leave it to some gun nuts to start playing semantics...

The difference is not mere semantics, a law based on such ignorance would ban just about every rifle.

Why are you defending ignorance? A better question, why are you defending the ignorance used to attack liberty while standing on the graves of dead children? Have you no shame?

Just tossing this out there...you guys give "them dirty Liberals" a lot of credit for having gun knowledge sufficient to make this mistake. In order to get this mixed up, they'd need to know about that switch... And if they know about that switch, chances are they know what the settings mean.

Still, very funny stab at the left, props to the OP and meme generator. I did lawl...

More like a lack of knowledge! The individual in question admitted he has never owned a firearm, he merely saw what was being reported and assumed it was a fact.

Your buddy, maybe...but as a generalization I'm not sure it works. Not saying that ignorance doesn't play a part - even as a progressive I shake my head sometimes...I believe in gun regulation for sure, but I also for sure do not demonize responsible gun owners and responsible hunting and conservation approaches...which, believe it or not, is very rural Canadian of me...lol... But...as far as a generalization goes, I would say the majority of people that know this switch exists also understand what the different settings are...that was my only point. Your buddy is just dumb. :p

Laws that restrict access to firearms from people who are neither inclined nor determined to use them unlawfully accomplishes absolutely nothing. Bans on "assault weapon" features like collapsible stocks, flash hiders, and barrel shrouds make me laugh! I often hear the argument from "left leaning" politicians that we need to enact a ban on magazine capacity over 10 rounds, because that would force the shooter to reload more, obviously they have never been surprised by the sound of gun fire in close proximity without ear protection, tackling that person isn't first on the list. Where do they come up with the number 10? Did they draw a number from a hat, and that is what was picked? The long list of the laws that have been passed & purposed with a lack of common "gun" since!
