Middle school student suspended for 'liking' photo of gun on Instagram

You did not read your own link did you. From your link...."Zachary Bowlin, a seventh-grader at Edgewood Middle School in Trenton, received a 10-day suspension after liking the Instagram photo of an airsoft gun late Thursday." Note the part that says "airsoft gun". Wonder why you did not see an airsoft gun? Because the NY Post has an agenda similar to yours?

Yeeeeeaaah, that was pretty bad. Point taken.

But, what is my agenda?

Restrict things based on appearance rather than pertinent capabilities in order to save lives.

I've never advocated restrictions based on appearance and I will defy you to show where I have. I have always advocated for restrictions on modern combat weaponry like the AR15 and and AK47 based on capabilities.

But not the M1 Carbine or Mini-14 with exactly the same capabilities.

my assigned M1 carbine was NOT an automatic fire weapon

Ludicrous example of appearances over substance.

Yet you are fine with your M1 carbine. Which is just as capable of killing in situations such as Aurora, SB, Sandy Hook, Virginia Tech, Orlando, etc. The only thing the AR has over the M1 carbine is distance. Care to tell me how many mass shootings occur at a distance of a hundred yards or greater? 1 that I can think of here in the U.S. and that guy used a bolt action and 1 in Norway. He did not use an AR either.

You were shown a picture of an AR which was banned in Maryland next to a picture of an AR which could be purchased legally in Maryland. The only differences were cosmetic and both rifles were exactly the same capability wise. You agreed with Maryland banning one and not the other. You also never answered why one was OK but the other should be banned. So yes, jet, that is indeed advocating restrictions based on appearance. Hell, you even said my 9mm AR should be banned even though it is no different than my Glock in barrel length, operation, capacity, cyclic etc.

Nor is the AR-15 or civilian version of the AK47, which confusingly shares the same nomenclature as the selective fire version.

On the merry go round again eh? If they wanted to ban M1 carbines from public sale, I'd have no problem with that. End of the M1 carbine nonsense.

And - you can't show me where I said I supported banning the AR15 because of how it looked, which only means you were lying when you made the assertion. The rest of your litmus test post is pure BS and I'm not entertaining it.

You just make it up as you go along BretJ.

When did I ever say that I would not support a ban on public sale of either of those rifles?

Just wondering how long before you get the FBI to show up at my door Jet..

I just "liked" your picture of a firearm.. so obviously I mean to kill people.

Yep.. that's your logic there Jet.

I'm sorry, I don't translate babble: what are you talking about? Why would I send the FBI or even a Domino's pizza man to your door?

Why would you go along with that? Do you feel that the M1 Carbine is dangerous enough to warrant accepting a ban?

If they banned any other weapon, would you go along with that?

No, you want to ban it because you feel it has some unique power in mass shootings that no other firearm has, which is patently untrue. Given that an M1 Carbine and its cousin the Mini-14 have the same capability as an AR15, and that you would accept an ban on them if one was put in place, why are you not also calling for a ban on those too?

Why aren't you calling for one now? Why haven't you lumped them into the same ban as for AR15s?

Nope. You are wrong jet. Tell me where/how the "litmus" test is BS. That is no more than "Jet speak"for "I can't really answer that without admitting I have no clue." I welcome being shown how I am wrong. Unlike you, my self worth is not based upon believing I am right. Anyway, you have shown your colors, so that's a plus. You are indeed a Prohibitionist. Embrace it.

Because he does not want to hold himself to the same standards that he would shove down other people's throats if given the power to do so. It's always easier for folks like him to take away someone else's rights.

as i previously posted, from my personal experience with am M1, it was not found to be an auto fire weapon
my understanding is the AR15 does possess automatic fire capability
maybe i am wrong and you will show me in what way
however, if my understanding is accurate, then the M1 and the AR15 do NOT possess the same capability

AR15 is semi-automatic only. The selective fire M16/M4 are the military versions. The M1 Carbine has the selective fire variants M2/M3 Carbine and the Mini-14 has the AC556 selective fire variant.

I guess it was misinterpreted by someone else as a gun threat. Somebody must have overracted, and told the school.

Could be, but it seems like the school, not the someone else, issued the suspension. Apparently just because.

What's next? Suspending students because the parents own guns?

Exactly. I'd guess you would have no problem with banning my .44 magnum single action or the Ruger 10/22 either.

That 10/22 can be made to look skeery with aftermarket add ons. But it's still a Ruger 10/22

Why would I support banning a revolver? Can you make a rifle out of it and attach 30 round clips to it and make it semi or full auto?

Do you wear a tin hat?
