My fellow gun owners, are you a single issue voter?

I don't consider myself a single-issue voter, but even so I'd find it almost impossible to vote for an anti-gun candidate.

Any more than I'd knowingly vote for an anti-1st Amendment candidate.

It made me laugh because I am an responsible gun owner and that suggestion is a pretty hefty gun control proposition. The poster did not state how that would benefit anyone, just casually threw that idea out there. I'm all ears for any suggestion, but at least give me a reason to why you feel that way. Also, being ok with hang guns, but nothing else is kind odd. The "personal space" idea is odd and also lacked a follow up. In short, people are throwing out ideas without a follow up as to why it would be beneficial.

Fair enough. :)

I'm constantly hearing that gun owners are single issue voters and only care about their guns. For me, that isn't the case, but I thought I'd make a thread to find out if these people are correct. Do you only vote for the 2nd?

I'd like to vote WITH people who believed they could make a difference to the direction of politics and keeping government on track with obedience to the constitution. I mean that is what the constitution is there for and what government swears obedience to. How could I possibly vote for any party or policy that ignores the laws it must obey. What party policy is more important than this fundamental requirement?

Am I single issue? Yes I believe government should obey our laws and I am willing to enforce that at the polls.

I was one of the first responders to the OP. My last line was prophetic. All gun owners are nowhere near expert enough in either how the weapon works or how to behave when in possession of a weapon.

You made a statement which is meaningless unless you can show validity. Please do that now.

What is your measure of the "nowhere near expert enough"?
My response was meant to elicit responses from a 'hot button' issue. "

I would not say this is a hot button response, more like eliciting validity for your unevidenced assertions.

Mission Accomplished"!

Your opinion is noted as another assertion without validity.

Let me add another layer to the topic, "when do the rights of the group take priority over the rights of the individual?"

The rights of the individual are the rights of the group. What rights does a group have the individual does not?

The second amendment is way too emotional an issue to be debated rationally on a forum such as this one.

One again your unevidence assertion is noted. Do present what is emotional about 27 easily understood words that they cannot be rationally debated. Which of the 27 words do you not understand. Look it up in a good dictionary. That should solve the problem. Try to remember the constitution was written so any citizen could understand it and it does not require either a law or history formal education.

I kinda knew what was going to happen. I am neither and expert or totally uniformed as far as weapons are concerned, long weapons and hand guns.

Did you foresee this response?

To the poster whose 'personal space' extends to 500m, take a good sight picture and good luck with the courts if you hit an intruder anywhere near that range.

This appears to be irrelevant and an emotional response, so I shall not bother with it. I suggest you do the same.

I'm only a single issue voter when assholes are attacking the 2A

Until those assholes are well and truly defeated they will be attacking the 2A. Put another way until firearm owners learn to protect their rights the assholes will try to remove them.

The only question is are firearm owners ever going to wake up and protect their rights?
