He is correct. The poster whom he references constantly makes posts about some person fighting off an armed attacker and then claiming NO ONE NEEDS A FIREARM for self defense

I'm surprised at the attitude here. What part of a victims action are responsible for people committing crimes? Is I was tempted by.... a valid defence? One might say it is foolish to walk into "rough" areas or it is looking for trouble but never is the victim responsible. Those responsible for dealing with the problem are but never even get mentioned.

We oldies don't have much time left anyway. I can think of many worse ways to go than getting shot while tying to kill some criminal.

I'm sure you've seen people on Facebook advertising their personal lives and showing off materialbpossessions on a regular bases. That's kinda, "asking for it".

What if you were paralyzed or there were kids playing nearby who could have been hurt. Your children or grand children might not think getting killed while chasing a criminal is such a great idea. I don't recall if he was married. Defending yourself is one thing, chasing them across the lawn at any age not such a great idea.

good point-thats why our FB pages normally feature my wife or my son firing high powered weapons accurately. Junior at age 11 going through a live fire house or hosing down steel plates with a MP5 for example

I put photos of my guns on FB in the past, but not anymore and I've scrubbed the ones I posted. Nobody needs to know what kind of hardware I own.

I have no objection to defending your home with a rife. I just thought it was really stupid to chase an armed guy across the yard regardless of age although being 79 probably didn't help.
 
My favorite arguments are the, "why didn't he shoot them in the leg" types.
