Bank robber picked wrong bank

A guard at a bank stops an armed robber. The video at the linked story is a reminder how fast these types of situations can go down.

The guard did several things well. He responded quickly. He used the counter as concealment. He stayed on the offensive, not giving the assailant time to regroup, he quickly clears a jam and scans for other threats once the robber is neutralized.

You can tell by how quickly he draws and gets that first shot off and how smoothly he cleared the jam that this is a man who trains with his weapon.

Excellent job.

He got the job done but he was also the last one to react to the threat.

True, but I think that is due to where everyone was looking. The guard was looking toward the clerks, perhaps chatting. The two clerks who took cover first were the ones facing toward the front door.

Right. His job, of course, is to watch out for stuff like armed robbers busting through the front door. I'm not really going to fault him for doing what pretty much anyone else would be doing (you don't get robbed all that often) but it goes to show how important situational awareness is.
