A great video about using revolvers for defense.

As someone that use nothing but Revolvers I really do appreciate that lucky gunner makes some good videos on using revolvers for carry. This latest video gives insight why you should shoot using double action only.

I also advocate that-for both tactical and legal reasons. PPC and Bianchi cup champions proved that the DA shooting is best for quick and accurate shooting

For those of us with Parkinsons Disease, the revolver is about the only way to go.

I definitely prefer revolvers.

Parkinson's here as well. Love my glock though I may go for a Ruger Sp101. Have always liked that wheelgun.

Not a big gun guy, but these videos are pretty interesting.

Do yourself a service and go with a Smith and Wesson. ;)

I really like my 3" SP101. I don't think a j-frame would be as suited for my primary purpose.

The frame and cylinder on the SP101 is superior to most any S&W.

This is coming from a huge S&W fan.

The SP101 is one of the most rugged revolvers ever built.

Who said anything about a J-frame? They are making K-frames in 3 in again and you can get the 686+( 7 shot L-frame (Which I carry right now)) in a 3 in as well.

Only if you are planning to shoot .357 mag that travels at 2000 fps(you know stupid hot loads.) If not then extra ruggedness is pointless. For the 686 is the superior gun.

It's for backcountry archery hunting. Weight is an issue. Plus my neighbor gets Ruger at cost

It's for black bears. I am shooting stupid hot loads. Plus I polished the interior and dropped the springs a bit. It shoots smooooooth

Hmm 39 oz is too much weight for hunting? That is the first time I have heard of that. Most hunters carry heavier handguns in the woods.

Should just move up to a .44 then.

It might be more sexy to you, but there are too many true experts out there that claim the SP101 is a more rugged and reliable weapon.

I have shot the 686 a few times, and liked it.

But, I wouldn't own a 686 after all the internal lock problems that have been documented regarding this model. Especially the asshole way S&W treated their buyers of this model

Find an old Model 66 or Model 19 in good condition. Plenty of them around even the 2.5 inch type.

If you don't mind the lack of adjustable sights, the Model 65 or 13 are excellent and available in 3 inch versions.

Chevys and Fords...:)

not true-RUGERS are well made guns and they perfected investment casting to save money over machining frames. But there is a reason why when I shot in the state PPC tournament (my law firm represented the Sheriff so I was deputized since I was a top PPC shooter) almost every top PPC (Police Pistol Combat-meaning 38 revolvers back then) shot a Smith and wesson. Like 196 out of200 or so

Model 10 is the revolver all others are compared to. 19 is the same gun with better sights and an the ability to fire 357. The actions are pretty much the same

I cannot tell you how many handguns I have owned, bought, or won, but if I was limited to ONE centerfire handgun it would be the 4" 686 or 586 or perhaps the 8 shot 627 which is pretty much the same

Every expert I have listen has claimed that the SW is superior unless you are doing stupid hot loads.

These are all K-Frames like the Model 10 (which is .38 Special).

Now you CAN go to the Model 686 (an L Frame and slightly larger) but it's just a little too bulky for some.

Here's a Model 66 with Laser grips:

Here's a couple of 686s......one old, one new.

The 686s are a little larger........that said, the 3-inch 686 is my favorite trail gun.

You need to broaden your search, or at least make a honest assessment.

I did before I chose the SP101 over the GP100, S&W 642, and the S&W 686.

I don't want a self protection revolver with a history of internal lock up's.

Go ahead and carry it................ none of my business.
