So for those that own handguns, what are your favorites right out of the box, no mods but as is.
For a compact mine was a Bersa 9cc, looks and handles like a Glock with interchangeable sights with Glocks and in my opinion a better trigger. Compact and fits the hand very well and I never meet a lady shooter that did not absolutely love the thing, still not sure if it is mine or the wife's, even though she has her own handguns. Maybe for her Birthday.
For full size I would have to pick my G22 Glock, at first I was not sure about it because I was used to the 1911 and 9's but once I got the feel for it I now shoot better with it than either my 1911 or my G19, for some reason it just works and fits my hand great. It just Works.
I would add two honorable mentions and that is the always wonderful 1911, they are what I grew up with and they still work great and the CZ, which I have yet to get replaced, never handled a handgun that fit the hand better and they are dependable a sin, plus I like the way they look, call me crazy but I do.
So, What are/is yours, and why?

My .45 I had in Vietnam and managed to get home with me.

Re: Your favorite handguns right out of the box?

OK here goes

Full sized steel framed 9mm pistol-CZ-SP 01. there is a reason why this pistol dominates both the local leagues I shoot in and the Production/Stock events in USPSA

plastic frame service sized pistols-the Smith and Wesson M&P shoots better for me than the Glocks or the XDs and is much cheaper than the well made but overpriced HK P30s

Compact 9mm-M&P compact-see above

small sub compact 9mm-SIG 938 its a single action and I can shoot it more accurately than the striker fired faux double acton only

Full size revolver-the L frame Smith and wesson. no other revolver maker has an action as good as the Smiths.

non-custom 45 1911. The basic Kimbers are really good but the Springfield Armory's range officer give you more for the money and after 400 rounds, they are as smooth as the Kimbers.

AR 15s. I put Timney or CMC triggers in almost all my stock ARs but the Rock River triggers are among the best of ARs that don't come with stuff like Timney or Geiselle triggers

Semi auto all round shotgun=-FnH SLP-1 or a Remington Versamax.

I'm with you. I have some modern arms. Browning Citori and a Ruger P-85. But I grew up with a .357 single action blackhawk. Stag horn grips and all, I can center punch paper at 50 yds and scare the hell out it at 100.

Hey now, that is the job of my Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag. I make everyone that shoots on my little range go through at least one cylinder just so they can say they did it. When I first got it and fired a few times I went eww, this thing is hard to shoot, finally after years in the safe I decided to give another try, I can actually hit things with now and scare to death anything that failed to run. Shoot that thing at night a flame shoots out the barrel that is freaking awesome. I would never sell it, too cool, besides it is paired to a .44mag level action rifle, one ammo two guns always nice, especially in bear country.

Hey, you have toooooo many favorites, yes, you love all your children, even those you Failed to mention (someone is not going to be happy), but I would like to see you wear them all at once. Hmmm, maybe wear all your favs to the next match, they will finally have their worst fears realized the Turtle is certifiably Nuts, just no one is brave enough to say it to you, so does not matter. Do they have Six gun comps, and if not, Why Not.

My brother has a 357 super with a 10" barrel and scope. Freakin' heavy and rattles my teeth. But if you got a rest, go for it. I have been waiting for the price of silver to go up or some other excuse to buy a henry in 357. But then I'd probably want to take up cowboy comp.

I like Henry rifles, very well made and American made, I have a 22 lever action. That said I not a fan of their loading system, having to reload in a tube next to a hot barrel, at the tip, and going through the contortions to quickly reload are simply show stoppers for me. I have a new Marlin, and would have gone with Winchester but .44mag was my goal and they did not offer theirs in .44mag. If I was looking at a .357 I would go with Winchester or one of the top shelf lever action rifles and they are available if ya want to spend some cash, some of them are works of art in my opinion.

that's like asking a pro golfer what his favorite club is

it depends on the lie of the ball and what part of the fairway he is on

So, I can assume you are the guy with golf cart full of guns that needs to wait and check the humidity and wind speed and direction before deciding on which guns will be the very best choice for the coarse and conditions? You professional shooters are so picky, and I bet you make your son caddy for you, slave driver.

Re: Your favorite handguns right out of the box?

Straight out of box is my Rugar Vaquero. (Not too much you can do anyway)

My PPQ in 9mm is becoming my favorite and most accurate gun the more rounds I put down it.

I had a Dan Wesson I got used at a good price that I couldn't get used to. The trigger just never felt right to me and it was little to bulky for my hands.* It was in 10mm and hard to get ammo locally so I didn't give it a fair shot,* but got an offer that was too good to refuse.* I don't have any 10mm so it was odd man out

Nope-If I am shooting Olympic trap I take one or two of my Browning over and under

If I am shooting Olympic skeet I take my K-80 skeet gun

If I am shooting Steel stock-I take a CZ-75 shadow

If I am shooting custom (USPSA Ltd) I take a CZ CTS

If I am shooting Unlimited Steel I take a CZ czechmate race gun

If I am shooting Rimfire steel-A CZ Cadet

and if I am shooting open revolver a SW Performance Center 8 shot Miculeck custom revolver in 9mm

If I am shooting USPSA "Single stack" I take a SW Performance Center 1911

you get the idea

and in our bedroom I have a CZ SP-01 with a flashlight and a SW M4 rifle with a NV scope on it. upstairs in the office-a Beretta M9 in a lock box and a SIG MCX rifle with a flashlight on it

Yeah, I get it, you are a gun nut, and some fine guns they are. Admit it, you had to come back and mention them after slighting them last time, take them out in the morning and let them play some, they will get over it.
Me Loves my Browning also, best shooting shotgun I ever owned, but had to save up to buy her years ago, she hate skeet and ducks for some unknown reason, but I have to do all the cleaning, lazy gun, all play and no work.

Why is this in the Gun Control forum?

Re: Your favorite handguns right out of the box?

Why is this in the Gun Control forum?

Because it is about guns and I did not know a better place to put it. The mods are free to move it if they feel it belongs elsewhere, just tell them, I have no issue with that. Does it bother you it being here for some reason?

Yep. It does.

Re: Your favorite handguns right out of the box?

Report it, or better yet I will do it for you. Better Now?

He opposes people owning guns and many gun haters don't like people talking about gun ownership in a positive light.

I don't oppose people owning guns and I think hobby talk should be in the leisure threads.

I reported it the mods myself and they can move it they wish or leave it here, you know that I don't want to upset anyone.:wink2:

part of the attack on gun rights is the assumption that people should be restricted in owning guns and this discussion is about people legally owning guns, something gun banners want to prevent

if you are upset with this topic why are you on the thread? you can start plenty of anti gun threads here if you want.

Not sure I can be much clearer.

I think Casper said it best. If you don't like a thread topic then ignore it
