Hollywood gun hypocrisy: Skyrocketing violence on screen...

You sound like George Carlin (you gotta be at least 50 to remember that one)

I sure miss old George.

MY HERO!

:nails

Seriously, I love Carlin, a guy who was not only bright enough to get it, ballsy enough to say it....and skilled enough to get heard.....amazingly.

Almost no one ever gets all that done.

10/10

Spot on.

Are we now blaming movies for violence? I don't. I can separate reality from movies.

So can I, but Hollywood encourages violence. For mentally stable people no big deal, for impressionable young minds and psychopaths, it's like training camp.

Glorifying gun violence within and for the purpose of entertainment is the same as actually, in real life, glorifying gun violence? I don't think so.

Anyway, what's wrong with glorifying justified gun violence, in movies or otherwise? I don't see a problem with cheering for and supporting legitimate police shootings or legitimate self defense shootings.

Do the movies glorify the actions of (evil) antagonists? I don't think so. Glorification entails admiration. Do movies glorify super-badass-ninja-techniques? Sure. But not the antagonists themselves.

There's no hypocrisy. Hollywood is against rape but has rape in movies. Does that make Hollywood hypocritical about rape? Clearly not.

Sure does, because they they are all about anything kinky...rape, drugs, pedophilia, gayism. Some in Hollywood thrive on how kinky they can get. So stating that they are against rape...nawwww. Publicly they will denounce it, behind the scenes, anything goes.
There are some very fine people in the industry and some very sick ones as well.

Good and bad guys have been wielding guns on the screen since Tom Mix. What's your point?

Tom Mix, Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, John Wayne and many others in the old days, were honorable men and didn't go around bashing guns and gun owners like they do today. Many today, like Matt Damon, Sean Penn, Martin Sheen and DeCaprio....who use firearms in movies to make them tons of money.....are hypocritical punks!
As far as I'm concerned, they shouldn't be allowed to make any movies with guns in the script. They have no respect for the Rights of gun owners! I in turn, have no respect for them.

They're not actually shooting people.

Doesn't matter. They glorify guns to make a buck and then turn around and bash guns ownership and gun rights...

**** Them All!

Movies, music and other entertainment does not cause violence. There's no prosecution of, litigation against or suit against a movie or other artist for the actions of anyone. If we started blaming art for crime, we'd enter a creative dark age. Is that what you want?

Sure does, because they they are all about anything kinky...rape, drugs, pedophilia, gayism.

This is your evidence of Hollywood being pro rape? "Gayism" (can't be serious) is not rape.

Some in Hollywood thrive on how kinky they can get. So stating that they are against rape...nawwww. Publicly they will denounce it, behind the scenes, anything goes.

That's a kinda sick fantasy. Are you pissed because you didn't get invited to debauchery?

There are some very fine people in the industry and some very sick ones as well.

That's true of every group of about 100 or more people, whether judges, street boys, Catholics, Muslims, etc... That's not evidence against anyone.

Doesn't matter.

Of course it matters! It smashes the point, leaving Turtle only the option to agree or bow out. To address his analogy, if Hollywood made movies with characters that were porn stars and then decried the porn industry, would they be hypocrites and the answer is no. That you fail to follow and understand a debate smash set point is so disappointing. You need to recognize talent.

They glorify guns to make a buck and then turn around and bash guns ownership and gun rights...

**** Them All!

The movies are not about guns. Thus guns are not what is being glorified. Guns are just a tool. Not an object of worship. Right?

As far as those bashing gun ownership and rights, yeah, **** them all.

I have to laugh at this.

I load my own Marlin .450 with BB 500 grains, and they could take out most trees in the lower slopes of the Sierra.

Gotta get set for one of those bad boys screaming out the pipe.

But, if you REALLY want to get serious, I have an Remington SP-10, thumbhole.

If I shoot .10 slugs out of that bad boy.....

437 grains to an ounce...so

437g/ ounce X 1 3/4 ounces = 764 grains....

boom

Nope, you can have your fun with those. A man has to know his limitations. ;)

Sounds like reasonable load for bear, marginal on elephant though making shot placement very important

Yeah, but it's pretty much just for fun of if I know there's a 400+ wild pig in my future. I'd never hunt bear and, being a moral individual, would never even consider shooting an elephant.

would you shoot an elephant in your pajamas?

I don't think Hollywood could film an elephant shoot. They would not be able to haul enough fake blood to splash around. The average human must have at least 30gal these days. It's not the violence so much as the exaggerated graphics.

"the massive Smith & Wesson Colt .44"?

What the hell is a S&W Colt?

There's a Colt .45 ACP or Long, and there's a .44 Remington magnum. I'm not aware of a .44 Colt anything.

Yeah, those things are hell to clean and dress.
