There is a reason I don't carry. And, this would be it.

Cardell Hayes found guilty of manslaughter in Will Smith shooting

It's just too easy to take a little squabble to the next level, and once it begins to escalate, staring at a 40-year prison term becomes all too much of a reality.

I bet Cardell wishes he wasn't carrying that night.

As this incident shows, some people really shouldn't be carrying.

It's becoming more common. Unfortunately.

IMO, a lot of people become a bit too bold when they know they have a loaded gun in their possession. It's probably human nature.

I bet he wishes he didn't shoot that night.

Probably should have just done what an unarmed man would do: jot down the license plate of the car that hit him and report it to the po-po.

So you are so hot headed that you would shoot someone on the slightest whim? on the bright side atleast you know it....

Obviously, I am not alone in the former, but perhaps unique in the latter.

I bet the millions of people whose lives have been saved by the defensive use of a firearm, couldn't possibly care less about your idiotic opinion.

It sounds like the defendant made the mistake of lying about Smith having the gun in his hand and in popping caps into both knees of Smith's wife. Deliberately ramming his SUV into Smiths Benz didnt make Hayes look very good either. If it was a situation where the defendant stayed in his car and was getting pummeled he would have been justified. Its really hard to read the details of the case and see how this is a justified shooting.

I dont see where this has anything to do with 'concealed carry'.

Wut?
There was nothing wrong in his carrying it.
What went wrong is his decision to use it.

lol...having a little trouble going from A to B, are ya?

Uh, my take on it is he would have stayed in his car and not gone all Rambo if he wasn't carrying. That's all.

Not at all, just pointing out that your claim is silly.
It had nothing to do with carrying and all to do with the decision to wrongly use it.

And you take would be based on what evidence that it was even remotely factual?

I guess the idea that B is a lot easier to do when A is in play goes whoosh over your head. Eh?

If you think carrying a gun will make you murder someone over an argument then I agree, you shouldn't carry a gun.

I think that is a huge leap to make Calamity.

the facts are.. that concealed carrier permit holders are much more law abiding than the average citizen.

but if concealed carry meant you were more likely to "do b" when carrying.. then they should be LESS law abiding than the average citizen..

but that's not what the research shows.

The reality is that carrying concealed makes people more willing to obey the law. I know it does for me. When I carry.. I know that I want to avoid any altercations. The carry law in most states.. has provisions that if you get into any trouble.. while carrying.. even if the firearm is not involved. The penalties are much greater.

Not at all. It is so much easier to stab someone with a knife if you are carrying to. Duh!
That is was easier is not the problem here and is a lame excuse.

Again it was the wrongful use of the gun.
Legal carrying goes on across this nation to some significant extent on a daily basis and these people do not have problems because they are carrying.

What happened was totally dependent on the person carrying through with faulty thoughts.

Self defense is a tough claim when you're the guy that chased the victim down, rammed your vehicle into his and then shot him 8 times...7 of those being in the back.

I would say it should certainly be a consideration. Everyone knows things have a tendency to escalate. And, if you happen to recognize a little bit of Cardell Hayes in yourself, you may want to give it some serious though.
