i have been getting my normal emails for ammo and firearms, however the prices have been slashed today i can buy 50 rounds of 9mm Fiocchi [which i like a lot] for 9.95 and Sellier & Bellot .45acp for 14.95.

did many of these companies i buy from lay in big supplies of ammo to sell at higher prices if Hillary won, but now find they have to sell it for a lower price since the DON! won the election?

Probably. I actually had a theory that a Clinton Presidency would be good for the firearms industry, and since Trump won, I suppose I'll never know for sure.

More than likely. Gun manufacturer's stock have been sliding and what seems to be an overbought market will have to ease prices.

The gun shops in my area are all advertising some large discounts.

I hope so... prices have gone up so much since the 90s it is crazy.

Or the demographics of the people stocking up on guns will change.

Trump'''s Victory Has Fearful Minorities Buying Up Guns - NBC News

Post election, minorities are waking up to the value of gun rights

I have two very liberal friends who have always been very anti-gun. After this election they are both talking about getting a handgun.

While I support gun ownership it is a fact that fear increases sales. Which demographic groups are fearful will change over time, however.

Power to the People. :D

That's great. The more honest people that are armed, the less likely they will become victims of crime. At least not a victim twice, and God help whoever tries to harm them the first time.

Every citizen of this country should avail themselves of their 2nd Amendment right to self protection and self defense. If all the good people in bad neighborhoods were armed, the bad people in those neighborhoods would either leave or die, which would soon turn those bad neighborhoods into good neighborhoods.

We have one near me where that happened. The locals took classes in the local church basement, went to the range and qualified, and got their CCW's, bought themselves some handguns and rifles, and then they took their neighborhood back. No one was ever harmed while doing so, either. It can happen rather easily. The punks, as it turns out, are cowards when it comes to facing a group of good people, and it doesn't hurt if the good people are also armed.

Also, if fear of rednecks, hillbillies, or whatever else that may be motivating minorities to feel concerned with Trump winning and that has caused them to change their opinions on the 2nd Amendment, then that, too, is great. A healthy, reasonable concern for your personal safety is not a bad thing.

And remember, it ain't paranoia if they really are after you. ;)

Given that it's early December and every store in the western world is having or about to have their biggest sales of the year, I wouldn't get all squirmy about the politics of it if I were you.

the big discounts (locally and on the Net-I get emails daily from PSA, Gamaliel, Midway, Natchez, and Brownells)

1) AR 15 mags and other parts like lower parts kits

2) AR 15s themselves and AR 15 lowers

3) some ammo-especially 9mm and 556mm NATO/.223 Remington (AR 15 ammo)

4) some police style handguns-SW M&P 9mm for example

well when obama was elected in 2008 we saw a jump in prices, so politcs can play a roll

I never had a problem getting .45 acp ever.

true because it doesn't have the high demand that the 9mm does but its a high volume production round because of the military and many police agencies. And unlike 9mm the vast majority of serious 45 shooters don't use factory loads, I have hundreds of thousands of rounds through a 45 and the only factory rounds I have shot were

2) a few hundred when I first started shooting a 45

3) testing remanufactured rounds for a friend who started what is now a major league remanufacturing ammo business (9 million rounds last year)

4) or shooting some full auto rigs (Thompson and a M3 GG) where I wouldn't use lead

however, hand loaded ammo (for IPSC Major 200 Grain SWC with 5.6 grains of 231) is what I have shot for years. its more accurate kicks less and is far easier on the barrel than jacketed. My Wilson comp gun has had over 100K rounds through it and it still holds 2.5" at 50 yards out of a rest.

most people who shoot 9mm shoot factory. I load 9mm (like 12,000 to 15,000 a year) but I am a rarity. 95% of the shooters are using factory

no, I don't need that ammo. I also never bought any high priced .22 rimfire
well what hapened in 2008 price of ammo went up and so did the cost of firearms
I remember going to a gun show and most common ammo was gone, and this was right after the election

i had plenty of foresight to have had a lot a long time ago so I wasn't a panicking idiot.

I studied the 22 shortage and consulted with ATF agents and industry leaders

people bought up 22 because it was cheaper than the stuff that was rocketing up in price (like "cheaper than dirt" -a place I will NEVER EVER do business with-selling a 50 round box of PMC Bronze (current price 12.95) for 59.95 during the Obama scares in late 08 and 12). This lead to hoarding which was accentuated by employees at places like wal-mart buying the stuff before the public could get it. This of course increased the panic and caused people to buy 22 at outrageous prices on line or at scalpers' tables at gunshows, which of course encouraged the Walmart, DICKS and other BB stores' employees to scalp the stuff

I never had issues since I am a VIP customer of two large independent dealers who had a steady supply and made sure their best customers got 22 when it came in. and I would buy when I could-such as a case here and a case there (5000) rounds and I always had plenty despite the fact we go through at least a 1000 rounds of 22 a month during the summer for competition. I even have a couple crates of really marginal russian steel rounds I bought 20 years ago (6000 rounds for 60 bucks IIRC and its junkie but it works in revolvers and bolt action rifles)

Well you have to remember when obama was election, he also had a democrat congress, and their was talk of bans,, also by your contention, their are a lot of idiots, because people sure do buy many goods when a storm comes, because they are not prepared as you seem to be

OK, so a lot of rich idiots bought a bunch of guns they'll never use for too much money. How many of them also bought a bunch of gold at 1800 an ounce off all the scaremongering right wing sites.

suckers

i saw what was happening on ammo ,but it did not effect me, however i didnt buy any firearms during that time because of price

One of the best and biggest ammo sellers is 10 minutes from my house right off Interstate 75 called AIMSURPLUS. One of their managers also was a trap mechanic at a gun club I belong to and educated me about his business in 2007 and since then I have done thousands of dollars of business with them-mainly russian 9mm, 223, a few firearms, several scopes, match triggers, safety stuff (glasses and hearing protection) cleaning supplies etc. well in late October I placed an order for a case of 545x39 and I always pick it up to save the 20 dollars or so delivery-at this time AIM was more like a 25 minute drive and I was busy at work and couldn't get there until the wednesday after Obama won.

I get there at there are at least 50 empty pallets stacked up (the AIM warehouse looked like one of those drive through pony kegs where you pick up a few cases of pop or beer) next to the front entrance. I go to the office, tell them that I was here to get my case of ammo and they sent me to the attached warehouse. And I asked the clerk what was on the pallets.

762x39

I said how much-

He said lots-cannot tell you but this last few days has been our best YEAR.

I said WHAT?

He said they sold more of that stuff in the few days before the election and the day of and the day after the election, then they had for the entire year in 2011. a two month supply of 762x39 (AK ammo for those who don't know) was completely sold out in two days

The only point being made is politics can effect prices as we saw in 2008 , are we seeing a reverse in 2016? Calm down dude its ok
