While Trump is endorsed by the NRA, I don't think he's exactly a hard core second amendment advocate. And Hillary of course, probably even more hateful of the NRA and gun owners then Obama or her husband. So if you are a serious gun owner, are you taking steps to guard against the problems which may occur after the election

Like what? Got any pointers?

I don't believe either will succeed in passing major new restrictions. HRC can try all she likes, but the GOP will oppose her, and Trump won't be President.

see the poll

me-in the last panic 22 rimfire ammo was hard to get. So I buy a brick or two a week

9mm ammo was hard to get, I have plenty and since I have a good friend that owns a company that is a major league reloading business, I have an access to plenty of factory ammo but I always keep a year supply of powder and primers on hand

I bought extra magazines for all my competition firearms

and three lower receivers for AR 15s which could triple in price if the dems try to ban stuff

Now I think there will be a panic no matter what-if Hillary wins-but I think what the dems are going to try to do is not attempt another federal gun ban-YET-because they took a bath over that in 94. Rather what they want is more blue states passing bans and having those set a precedent that can be used for a federal ban down the road

What? Is Hillary gonna send down the black helicopters and confiscate all the guns?

Other. I used to be a gun owner. We sold them when my wife was pregnant with our first son 20 years ago.

Oops, didn't even see the poll. Thanks.

I've been buying a couple boxes of .223 any time I'm near a sporting goods store. I need to start buying some 22lr, I've got a few bricks of the "cheap" stuff, and quite a bit of the high quality stuff in copper clad and hollow point. But, you can probably never have too much.

maybe so but as we know what happened after Obama's wins and Sandyhook there were massive shortages. AIM SURPLUS is a place I have done business with for 9 years. in 2008 I went up there to buy 2K rounds of 762x39 before the election. They had tons of it

I went up a few days after the election and there were 20 empty pallets stacked up. The manager said those had all been filled with case after case of Russian 762x39 and all was gone

He said the first week after the election was his best YEAR since they had been in business!

after Sandyhook it was almost the same. I'd get an email that 9mm was in stock and I'd call to order some and one time the guy said we have 1000 rounds left, and he'd say, sorry, all I could get you was 400, the other 600 rounds sold in the 30 seconds you placed the order and I could enter it in the computer.

So even if Hillary doesn't do anything (and she cannot until January if she wins and that assumes a filibuster proof senate) there will be people going nuts and buying stuff like crazy

The good news is that over the last 6 years I have been upgrading the quality of the AR 15s in my collection with stuff that average around 1500 a rifle and I have several I bought for 800-900 that will be worth a lot more if Hillary talks about banning them and I can make a profit on them even with the commission I pay the FFL who does the brokerage for me

no, she is going to appoint justices to the USSC who will likely uphold the crap states like California and Md and CT are passing by claiming those bans on normal magazines etc are not "violations of McDonald v Chicago. so her first goal is to help left wing states screw over gun owners. then after a bunch of states have done that, she might urge her allies in congress to pass another federal gun ban that she will claim should be held constitutional based on the rulings pertaining to state cases.

the danger of the LB trying to pass a federal gun law early is the beating her party took in 1994

1) to raise money you needed or

2) because you were afraid to have guns in a home with a child

3) you figured you wouldn't have time to use them now that you were a father

4) other?

She has already stated she will use EOs to institute more gun control. She has praised Australia for their great gun control measures. Also, with Wikileaks and the O'keefe videos, there's no question about democrat corruption.

The first items on the list are a good start. Personally I already had a good selection of firearms but added a few more and added a whole lot of ammo, spare parts, mags and anything else I could think of. I used to tell people to not worry, the government is not going to take away our rights, then the AR ban took effect (later to be killed because it accomplished nothing) and states such as Cal passed more and more ludicrous laws that are the pathway to either total bans or limiting of rights to the point that they may as well be banned. Clinton, who is the current favorite in the race has embraced the ideas of bans and we are talking way beyond an AR ban, and Trump that has supported strict gun laws in the past and probably would continue that same agenda if elected, neither can be trusted with our rights. Think about were we are today in this Nation, does it look like we are going to be putting the train back on the track or does it look like we are headed for a cliff. Honestly do you want to be prepared for what may come or not. Think of it this way, if some of us stock up on firearms/ammo and other supplies such as food, meds, personal items and other means to try an ensure if things go bad we are ready and nothing happens what does it mean, nothing other than when we discover we are out of something we have some in stock or camping supplies. But if something bad does happen then what, run to the store, good luck with that, waay too late and everyone else will be there with you, that rarely goes well. We carry a spare in our car, even if we have never had a flat, we use life vests in boats yet have never turned over or ben thrown out of a boat, it is just being prepared. Are people that live up north where they can get snowed in for a long period of time stocked up, is it because they are crazy or just smart.

 were I in your shoes, I'd be doing the same. As it is, I'm on the front end of that, and so I maintain enough for home defense.

I'm confused on the last option. Don't believe what? In guns? and what if you don't have any guns but won't try to pass legislation? I'm not a politician or someone with that type of power... I would say I don't like guns because I've used them before and I never got the hang of them, they just felt weirdly bulky to me personally. I'm much better behind a computer.

Two, and as it turns out he has Asperger's and I'm glad we did. We've talked about it and when we become empty nesters (if) we will re-arm.

huh? the option was you don't believe either candidate-if elected-would try to ban guns

and of course that might not mean anything but people still might panic

Oh I get it now! I didn't see the subtitle to this thread about the election portion. I just thought you were asking how many people owned guns here. But no please don't try to do something rash, here.

do something rash? I am not asking if people are going to start a revolution or go bonkers. Merely buying stuff that they might no longer be able to in the future

Hasn't Drudge been saying this for years? What are the preppers waiting for??? ;) So Obama didn't take your guns? huh?

Those of us that are Preppers have not and are not waiting many of us have been at this for years. You do not understand who Preppers are if you think we are planning on doing anything other than to be prepared for whatever may come.

I'm picking up whatever I can without paper. I haven't been buying parts to flip but might pick up a few lowers next week.

How do you prepare and for what?

Evening Turtle.
Hubby hasn't bought anything extra but always has plenty of ammo for the guns he does have and he reloads shells.

I came across this video tonight. It was an undercover video of Russ Feingold stating he thought if Hillary wins she might issue an Executive Order on guns.

Re: How many gun owners on this board are taking steps to based on the upcoming elect

Hasn't Drudge been saying this for years? What are the preppers waiting for??? ;) So Obama didn't take your guns? huh?

1) Obama couldn't because

a) when the Dems had the majority, Harry Reid wouldn't let anti gun stuff go to a vote because

i) he didn't want to lose his senate majority leader position

ii) he was from a pro gun state

b) when the GOP got the majority, all Obama could do was issue executive orders pissing off gun owners-such as banning the REIMPORTATION of thousands of highly collectible MI Garand rifles and MI carbines from Korea

2) However, Obama appointed two women to the USSC. the first, Sotomayor, had a long anti gun track record that continued when she voted against Gun rights in McDonald v. Chicago

the second appointee has never voted on gun rights because she never was a judge. We can only predict what she would do but her demographics-liberal east coast feminist and jewish, perhaps Lesbian, suggests a jurist who is going to be hostile to the NRA and gun owner rights

and that is the most important way a president can screw with our rights when he couldn't get anti gun bills to his desk

The whole idea about preppers is to be prepared for whatever.
