In the "Gun Control Mecca of America," the survey says: Chicago's criminal element ignore the laws in order to protect themselves. (The special bonus, of course, is the irony of a Michael Bloomberg funded pro-gun control news organization, in essence, saying "criminals don't obey the law.")

What do typical American gun owners have in common with people on probation or parole for committing a violent crime? Both groups are arming themselves in self defense, new research indicates.

That seems sensible enough. With so many being shot by cops in videos, thet musr be getting nervous. ;)

What nonsense! Felons have guns because they have negative perceptions of the police.

“If you want to reduce ex-felons’ access to guns, one way to do that is to give them another option and help them feel comfortable calling the police. That could reduce the number of homicides in violent networks, [and] also reduce shootings and bystander injuries in general.”

Maybe we need safe spaces for felons so they will feel better about the police and then won't have guns illegally.
Bloomberg trying to compare legal gun owners to felons who are prohibited from owning guns. Insane!

Actually criminals do carry guns to protect themselves, and enforce their power, and protect their "business". The problem is they aren't bankers and jewelers, they are drug dealers and hit men.

yep, I remember us (when I was with DOJ) telling a mope he was looking at several additional years because he was caught trafficking and a handgun. He shrugged and said-If you all catch me with a gun I get a few years. If THEY (other dealers) catch me WITHOUT a gun, I get a pine box in the ground

He got about before I retired. BTW I agree with Obama on some of those pardons. One guy got life for his third total and first federal cocaine offense and I thought that was way too harsh given he was never even caught with the coke in the third case-rather a mule ratted him out and claimed it was for him

Anyone who doesn't see the irony in that is not paying attention.

criminals have always carried guns to protect themselves from other criminals. 80% or more of murderers and murder victims have criminal records.

Can't argue with that logic. You know, assuming giving up a life of crime is off the table.

once you get pass that choice, many are logical. I remember watching a 13 year old kid (his parents were GS-14 level government workers meaning a combined income close to 200K or more) who was part of a carjacking plan. we asked him why they did a carjacking and he told the FBI agent this

we only had one shell for the shotgun. You can't do no drive-by with one bullet, if you miss, the MFs might kill you. but a carjacking-you only need one bullet

amazing logic

And there are those who think criminals are stupid and cannot think, they are going to do what fools think or want them to do. Like buy guns at a gun shop so they can be denied or caught.
