What does California do with felons and people that are mentally ill? Hint: They take their guns by force. Ah crap, my hint was the answer. :(

Waiting periods, background checks, and nerfing firearms already infringes. To see the point, apply the same remedies to speech: should posts/letters to the editor/public speeches have a waiting period? Or be registered? Or the speaker have a background check prior to commitment of the speech act? If you answer yes, you are consistent in the power you grant government, but I strenuously disagree that the USFG, or any state or local government, has that power legitimately. If you say no, then you are selectively choosing which rights you want protected.

worse yet, there was a period where people were supposed to register firearms in NY, NJ and California to keep them once the ban came in. Turns out the Democrat leaders in those states decided that some of those registered weapons were registered "too late" and they were then subject to confiscation. NY is now trying to confiscate registered handguns from the estates of those who owned them but have died

Which was expected. In pretty much every state I can think of they attempt to take peoples guns away from people after they die in certain situations. If you're dying the best course of action is to find someone you can trust to take them before you pass. That way the government can't find them. It's not really legal, but then, the government violating the second amendment to take peoples guns isn't legal either, so whatever.

It's entirely expected that if the state knows you have a gun that they will use the death opening to try to take it. It's not new at this point, but just a way for liberals to claim they aren't taking guns, while they're taking guns.

Because without that requirement, all a smuggler would have to do is claim, "I didn't sell the guns to that terrorist - he stole them from me - honest!" But WITH that requirement, the police would look at him and quite possibly have probable cause to dig into his financials to see if he's been getting a lot of cash from questionable sources.

BTW, this is one way to cut down on illegal immigration - if we do that which cuts WAY down on the quarter-million firearms that are smuggled each and every year from America into Mexico, then Mexico's drug wars eventually become a lot less violent, the society becomes safer, and as a result, fewer people feel the need to flee Mexico in order to keep their families safe.

just to point out that tons of americans have full automatic weapons. I am friends with several and there is even an association in some states for fully automatic owners. Yet despite this.. your "they would find their way into the hands of bad guys".. doesn't really happen.
 
Just to point out again.. that Glen Contrarian has failed to point out exactly how he would stop firearms getting into the hands of US citizens with no history of crime who could eventually be radicalized as terrorists. .

Without stopping firearms.. well from getting into the hands of US citizens with no history of crime who won't ever become terrorists.

Well the fact is that according to the second amendment the right of people to bear arms shall not be infringed so I don't know what gun control laws you want passed, but
most want guns banned which would violate the second amendment.

they use them in drive by's.

You said they confiscated legal firearms. Now, since i assume the firearms were legally confiscated, that would seem to imply that they were illegal firearms.

But i see you are incapable of backing your wild claims, instead deflecting with vague suppositions.

Not at all. You claimed they were legal firearms. They were possessed illegally and that is why they were confiscated. The laws for which they were confiscated have overwhelming public support, even among gun owners.

True enough, but the legal process by which select individuals lose the ability to legally possess a firearm in public have the implication that said ability is rescinded because they have been demonstrated an inability to manage the responsibility.

OK so you buy a gun legally, you never misuse it, the democrat scum then pass a law saying those firearms not only are banned from being sold, they are contraband.
