Data on gun control

Why is 'children' in quotation marks?

many of the slain that gun banners call children are those older than the average age of a grunt in Viet Nam. One study had ages up to 25. Sorry, its a term gun banners use to evoke emotional responses. They want people to see some 12 year old girl shot as she rode on a swings in the park rather than a 17 year old gangbanger with 3-6 serious Juvenile offenses, shot down in a gun fight over drug turf by a rival gangbanger with a similar record

Many are...children.

true, a three year old boy was shot in a shooting that just took place in "Evanston" (an area in Cincinnati that is well known to have high rates of drug crimes and violence) apparently 5 people were shot, and the police are looking for a dark sedan with dark tinted windows that was used in what appears to be a drive by. What do you think the chances are that the shooters were

1) not legal gun owners

2) have criminal records

3) were involved in the drug trade

What do you think the chances are that the shooters used a gun?

I'd say about 100%.

As the OP showed, it wouldn't happen in other developed countries.

but nothing you can propose could have changed that fact. so you are basically wasting our time complaining about something you have no ability to change

Yet all these other nations don't have this problem.

Seems to me that with tens of thousands dying every year, it's not one of those issues you throw your hands in the air and surrender on.

legal gun owners aren't the problem

and when we point out other countries that have idiotic gun control laws and massive gun violence, you pretend they don't count.

BTW lots of the countries you talk about never had much violence BEFORE they started banning guns

Seems like the correlation is there.

Seems like the correlation is there.

seems like you are grasping for straws. so your solution is to ban handguns? is that your goal? because that is what the countries you are talking about have done for the most part. even though they didn't have much handgun violence prior to such bans. what is funny is that white americans-who have the highest rate of legal gun ownership in the USA, and tend to live in areas where there isn't idiotic Democrat party gun bans as much as say blacks, don't have any higher rates of gun violence than whites living in those gun banning paradises you reference. Black americans, who tend to be concentrated in cities that often have Democrat party gun restrictions, have much higher rates of gun violence despite having far less access to legal guns

go ponder that

hmmm...what is it called again, when someone makes a post to deliberately and intentionally stir up crap, for the sloe purpose of just stirring up crap??

(flipping through my urban dictionary)

Everyone run and hide !!!

At this very moment I have 11 rifles in my man cave laid out on two tables. an RPK, an M14, an FAL, an M1 Garand, and a whole slew of others.

Run and hide before they jump up and start shooting all by themselves.

Oh, let's not forget the Krag carbine on the wall in a saddle scabbard.

and....there is thousands of rounds of ammo right next to them.

(there, that ought to make a few of them wake up screaming in the night)

OMG there is going to be a run on adult diapers when some read this

FAL is my favorite of that mix. I have an original Belgian job, a South American INBEL imported by Springfield Armory and an American made (Political correct clinton era with no deadly baby killing flash hider or school massacring bayonet lug) DSA FN FAL

Mine is just like yours. 100% Imbel from DSA, but it DOES have all of the baby killing apparatuses on it. I even designed a bayonet that works better than the original. Planned Parenthood is interested in buying a license to make them.

...and don't tell anyone the RPK squad machine gun has two 75 round LOADED drums....

OMG you plan on massacring THREE SCHOOLS THEN

The horror, the horror. that thing can go on its own killing spree with all that ammo!

I think I'll just post some interesting data and graphs on firearms in the US and see where the discussion leads.

America is a Violent Country

assault-deaths-oecd-ts-all-new.png

Sure looks like lots of assaults in the US lead to death, huh? Wonder why Americans are so effective at killing?

If you seperate out the data in terms of nations, you get this:

http://www.kieranhealy.org/files/misc/assault-deaths-oecd-ts-facet.png

And if you're wondering why Mexico isnt in there, its because no one actually considers it a developed nation like the US, except for certain dishonest types who pretend it is for the purposes of guns.

I dont think you can really argue this, but at the same time we are not the most severe.

I mean we dont sell 12 year olds to 40 year old perverts, and have to worry about daily beheading, and gangs shooting up cities who are supported by the police and us goverment. So yes, there is a lot of crime, but the level of crime, could be a lot worse.

Its not the safest place in the world, but its not the worst place either.

We do have high rates of stuff like Murder though, but a lot of times murder is also by relatives or someone who knew that person. So its a lot less likely to be murdered by a total stranger than it is by someone you were associated with in some way.

NO..I just like tearing up 4x6 index cards with it at 100 meters. I do not know how they did it, but the dang thing has a two-stage trigger. Imagine that.

Yeah, your right.

What the hell- a few thousand dead people every moth is no big deal.

Could be worse! (But it ISNT worse in any other developed nation in the world )

Pointing out massive casualties that, if addressed, threaten your hobby is just 'stirring up crap'.

Are you saying that you like the idea of selling 12 year olds to 40 year olds, and daily beheadings? Since I pretty sure most normal people do not WANT THAT, I dont think even the people in those countries where this happens WANT that.. So explain why you believe this is a good thing and we should want this? Give us your case for why you believe this is better. I do want to hear it.

Auctually you were the one who made one first.

I never said we should neglect that there is in fact issues with crime in America, but we do not have the most severe issues or crimes.

We do have moderate crime and its very prevalent, We also have crime regulating crime though and while we have a lot of offenders, its not legal or often that we get mass chaos like we do in some countries. So while you might argue America is the most dangerous place in the world, its really not. There are places more screwed up and far more dangerous than the US is. Even if you pretend none of these places exist.

If the argument is how violent and dangerous America is, but America is not the most violent/dangerous place in the world, and our problems are not as severe as some other places in the world.

Well, if you'll read the OP, maybe you'll fix your strawman. I never said the US is the most dangerous place in the world.
