Why Washington, D.C. Is In Trouble – 7,780 Public Employees With $100,000+ Salaries Cost Taxpayers $1 Billion

Our auditors here at OpenTheBooks found:

The mayor ($220,000) out-earns every governor (top pay: $202,000).
The Council chairman ($210,000) out-earns every member of Congress expect Speaker Nancy Pelosi ($223,500).
Metropolitan Police Department police chief ($272,156) out-earns all four-star generals in the U.S. military ($268,332).
The public school superintendent ($280,000) out-earns the secretary of U.S. Dept. of Education ($199,700).
The parks and recreation chief ($180,000) out-earns the secretary of U.S. Dept of the Interior ($175,700) — who manages one-fifth of all land across America.
The library director ($223,863) out-earns all federal bureaucrats employed at the National Archives and Smithsonian Institution — pay capped at $201,400.

Its past time for the public sector to tighten their belts. The salaries above do not include deferred compensation.

Lol 91% of DC residents voted Democrat in 2016. It's one of the most partisan Democrat strongholds in the country with total monopoly over local government. Residents will continue to pay high taxes to fuel corrupt over-payed politicians and they'll continue to be voted in by an overwhelmingly blue population that likely isn't going to change their ways anytime soon.

This is a good reason to never let DC become a state. The place is run by kooky
lunatics. No one would visit DC if the federal government was not based there.
Watched news last night showing a mob trying to pull down a large statue just a block from the DC
police headquarters. This went on for at least 15 minutes. Then the camera panned to the left and
guess what? There were 2 DC police cars parked with the emergency lights on and officers standing
out side the marked police vehicles. The officers were watch what was going on. The mob changed
their tactics and down came the statue. Smash in a cloud of dust! Some flammable liquid was sprayed on
the statue and lit on fire!!

Crazy insane mob rule! The country is moving into a very dark time! If the mob does not like you watch out!
